The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

Never think you can enjoy a golf course each time you play. But Atchafalaya sets the standard. Always perfect. Wow.

I absolutely loved this place! Beautiful course that really embraces all that the Cajun swamp country has to offer. Beautiful course and great Layout.. They really knew how to effectively utilize the natural beauty of the real estate.

Course was in excellent shape. Staff was very friendly and professional.

I always describe Atchafalaya as a snap shot of Louisiana.

Greens are true but not super fast, ever hole is unique, and the practice grounds are top notch.

The chicken and sausage gumbo is so good too.

Highly recommend this coarse.

Rain on Wednesday 1 1/2” Friday was 90 degrees. Greens in great shape for this time of year, about a 9 1/2 on stimp meter. Have to say I was impressed with overall shape of course.

Course brown due to last freeze. Played perfectly. This might be the toughest course in the state. Terrific practice facilities. Good food.

The plush fairway and greens showed the effects of recent freeze that has hit our area. Even with the afore mentioned, the course still played real well. But, it wasn't as scenic as usual.

Awesome course! Challenge for any level of play. Course was in tip top condition. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!!

I stopped by this place on my drive home from NOLA hoping to squeeze in a few holes. Considering I-10 on the way to NOLA was mayhem, I was certainly willing to make the diversion down US-90 instead, which definitely had more character and fewer cars.

I was surprised how nice the facilities were for being what seemed like the middle of nowhere (GPS included in carts). The layout is pretty scenic and natural, AND TOUGH! It could play pretty long. It felt a little bit like a PB Dye design, shaping-wise, with pot bunkers and bulkheads, but with larger greens than the Dye family normally builds.

I didn't get to see all the holes as I was playing by myself and got to the course in the afternoon after an outing, and storms were brewing on the horizon, but I got most in.

A stop on the Audubon Golf Trail, I give it three stars only because it was a little scruffy in spots and checks in below the 4-star courses I played in NOLA like English Turn. But I would recommend it for sure if you are driving thru Louisiana.

The course was fun to play. Be very careful though, there is wildlife (raccoons, gators etc) all around and lots of water.

In the swamp land of Patterson La lies a great course. Atchafalaya at Idlewild. The Pro Ed Lester and his staff are very helpful and friendly. The course. Was in excellent condition. Then after golf we ate a Cajun favorite a plate of white beans and catfish chips. It tasted like it came from my Momma ‘s kitchen. The weather was awesome and it was an outstanding trip to a wonderful secret in south La!!

The pace of play was excellent. Not too many people playing on such a beautiful day. You could play fast or slow, whatever your liking. There was no worry about holding up players behind you or catching up to the players in front of you and having to wait on them. It made it much easier to concentrate on just playing golf.

Good experience. Course is always in great shape and good value

Enjoyed the round at Atchafalaya at Idlewild. Staff was very professional and course was in perfect condition. One of the best courses in the area.

Atchafalaya Golf course is a great place to play any time but better in the winter - its not hot ! Greens in great shape ball rolls great ! They have the course in great shape , staff nice , food good ! I will play again very soon ! Watch out for the animals on the course - snakes , coons !
