Calusa Lakes Golf Club

I have been golfing for 60 years and have played all over the country as well as Scotland and Ireland. This course is in nice shape and a decent layout. There are some patchy areas on the fairways but not a huge problem. The greens were fairly fast and rolled true. Lots of water but not overly penal. The staff were awesome, very friendly. My only complaint was pace of play. Played the round with my wife, and I understand there may be some waiting, but we caught up to the group in front of us on the 4th hole (we started with them on the second green). From then on we waited for every shot. This continued until we drove off the course after 15. We drove past the two foursomes in font of us and didn’t pass any other golfers the rest of the way in (3 open holes through 18). Not a deal breaker and I will be back, but a little frustrating when we could have gotten through them had they been a bit more courteous. They definitely knew we were there waiting.

If you’re looking for a challenging layout, this is not it. The fairways are very wide with few bunkers and the green side traps are usually not in play unless you’re very errant. Overall the course is in very nice shape - especially the greens which are as good as private clubs.

Lots of places are recovering after the hurricane last year but there are better values out there for $110+ per round.

This is a moderately easy course. As long as you hit the ball straight, it is hard rto get into trouble. A nice course to get back into the swing of golf ion you are coming from cold weather or just want to play a nice easy round. Greens were pretty slow but in good condition. Course in ok condition. For $60 in high season, a very good value!

The course, staff and general conditions are great. For the price this time of year, definitely worth the money.

Ranger was out to patrol play, but still took 4.5 hours, as a slow member group in front of us was stubborn.

Course was in great shape, greeted by the staff and clubs carried to the cart and bottles of water in the cooler. Very organised, teed off 40 minutes early, the starter put us ahead of a relatively new foursome. And we never saw them again . Finished the round, broke 85 and all in back at the clubhouse in 3 hours and 35 minutes for our foursome. Alligators on most water including a little one that left bite marks on my ball retriever..

Recommend this course any day, any time

How I missed this course over the last 16 years I have been playing is a complete mystery. #1 tee to #18 putt just pure fun. Some of the best grass, tee to greens, you will ever play in Fl. Fortunately, I played with someone who had played there before otherwise a couple holes would have been confusing. Save for a few lakes and quite a few (perfect) sand bunkers strategically placed to challenge you, it is actually a very forgiving layout. I booked it as a golf now hot deal and everyone working there treated us super nice. 8 thumbs up!

The greens were so nice I almost felt like I should take my shoes off to walk on them. Staff was friendly and helpful. The course itself wasn’t overly difficult and was fun to play.
