Nice course
Nice course, in good shape. I think they are at the high end of what they can charge.
Loved the course, greens were a little slow, but I am guessing the greens keeper is afraid to cut them tighter because of the serious lake of rain that we have had here in Sarasota. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone.
Excellent experience
Calusa Lakes was outstanding as first time playing the course
Excellent condition
Very playable
Played forward tees as 2 seniors(my wife and me)
Staff was very friendly and helpful
Cost was acceptable for afternoon play
Great Value
Compared to the courses we play in and near Cape Coral, Calusa Lakes was a great value…if you have to pay $125 or so for a round. The tee boxes, fairways and greens are in excellent shape. This is the first time we’ve played this course this season, but it won’t be the last.
Nice GREENS
I think that Calusa Lakes has just about the best greens in Sarasota County.
Staff wow
Staff awesome five out five course four out of five pace of play very slow group in front of us would not let us play through unfortunately not sure if that’s a Florida thing or not.
Better all the time!
Giving 5 stars to Calusa Lakes GC cause that’s the most GolfNow gives out..friendliest staff that you can find, and everyone treats you right.. You feel like a member even though you are not.. Superintendent of the course does a fantastic job with his team and the golf course shows that all the time! Kudos to you Jay for all that you’ve accomplished with Calusa Lakes… actually it looks like it did when I first played here in 1996.. keep up the good work for it shows… especially when you drive up the boulevard to the parking lot, looking left at the first hole and looking right at the 18th hole beautiful!!
Great except for slow players
We love the course overall but twice we have played with extremely slow players in front of us. The couple (yesterday) in front of us had no one in front of them yet were oblivious to the fact that they had several groups backed up behind them. We endured this for 15 holes. The ranger came by 3 times and said nothing to them despite us voicing our frustration with slow players. He should have told them to let faster groups play through obviously. This happened both times that we (my wife and I) have played the course. Other than that the course is worth playing in my opinion.
Nice course, great greens
I have been golfing for 60 years and have played all over the country as well as Scotland and Ireland. This course is in nice shape and a decent layout. There are some patchy areas on the fairways but not a huge problem. The greens were fairly fast and rolled true. Lots of water but not overly penal. The staff were awesome, very friendly. My only complaint was pace of play. Played the round with my wife, and I understand there may be some waiting, but we caught up to the group in front of us on the 4th hole (we started with them on the second green). From then on we waited for every shot. This continued until we drove off the course after 15. We drove past the two foursomes in font of us and didn’t pass any other golfers the rest of the way in (3 open holes through 18). Not a deal breaker and I will be back, but a little frustrating when we could have gotten through them had they been a bit more courteous. They definitely knew we were there waiting.
Well maintained course
If you’re looking for a challenging layout, this is not it. The fairways are very wide with few bunkers and the green side traps are usually not in play unless you’re very errant. Overall the course is in very nice shape - especially the greens which are as good as private clubs.
Okay course but overpriced
Lots of places are recovering after the hurricane last year but there are better values out there for $110+ per round.
