El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. Nice Executive Course for the Money
Nice executive course to play for the money. Course was in decent shape for this time of year. Holes are a little close together, and we frequently had to contend with errant shots. Although the greens fees were reasonable ($45 w/cart for 18 holes), we were disappointed we couldn't play just 9 holes. Greens were in poor condition. Cart paths were primarily dirt which resulted in a lot of "road" dust. Most holes were challenging. I'd go back.
Great Easy round
On vacation in the area and looking for a good course for 2 novice and 1 9 handicapper to play. Found this course with good reviews so decided to book a round of 18 holes. Pro shop staff friendly, course conditions great, nice electric carts and nice driving range and putting green. Only downside was rental clubs a little eh. Each bag had incomplete sets, but still useable. Definitely would play again.

Course in pretty rough shape
Considering they just had a cat 4 hurricane and and are in a severe drought… the tee’s were covered with patchy grass and lots of sand and the putting greens were some the strangest we’ve ever played. Pace of play was good and was easy enough getting a tee time. Probably won’t play this one again.

Great for your short game
I personally love playing this course with my husband as I’m not great at my distance. This course is all par 3 & 4’s but it is still challenging! It is not expensive and it’s been pretty easy to get teetimes!

nice layout
in not to bad of shape hard greens to hold but good speed but price is a little high but better then other places to play

We had a 12:04 tee time. We arrived 40 minutes ahead of out tee time and were told we would probably tee off early. No golf carts were available so we did not tee off until 50 minutes after our scheduled time.
Many of the fairways run parallel to each other w/o proper foliage in between to account for sliced, hooked balls. I heard “4” called at least 6 times during the 18 hole course. Between the 10th and 11th hole you drive your cart directly in front of the 11th hole tee with a blind curve in front. Unbelievable.

Dangerous
The tee boxes are too close to the greens to feel safe from a ball landing near you.

Not my first choice
This is a course we play if there are no other options. Conditions are not good. They ran out of carts on this day. Holes are so close together that you have to stay alert at all times for errant shots. It's like they don't put any $ back into the facilities

Proper Golfer Etiquette
Recommend using a Course Ranger to set and maintain a good pace. Advise golfers that no more than 2 attempts to hit from a tee box are allowed. When searching for an errant shot, limit your time to a few minutes (3-5 mins). Remember you are NOT the only golfer/s on the course.

Great day for the money
The course has a nice variety of holes as far as length, water and trees. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
