El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. Course was hour drive , price high for par 60 course, took 2 hours to play 9 holes 2nd nine played in 1 hour because few dropped out after 9 probably won't return although we liked the course

Don't bother
Played an almost 4 hour round because a 5some of 20 year Olds were drunk and running all over the place.will never go back

Just a very beat up course
Lots of dead grass, divots, and dirt. Couldn’t tell some holes from others. Good pace of play cause of the size though.

Tough to guess yardage
The yardage on the holes is a total guess. The tee markers were in the wrong place so it was hard to know the actual distance when trying off. There are no permanent yardage markers to help either.

Played there with a friend for the first time. It's a smaller course that is suffering from the drought conditions. It is not well irrigated. Beware of errant shots.
It was a busy day and the attendant warned us they were overbooked. Pace of play was slow as a result.
Overall, this is an OK course, good for the short game.

don't bother
slowest playing 18 hole course i have ever played. 3and 1/2 hours for 3000 yds. had to wait on every hole because of extreme back up. will never go back!!!

El Rio Return
Not expensive for a SW Florida course in the winter. Tee areas were a mess. Greens good for March. Slow pace. Tight layout so you have to beware of others teeing off or the driving range. Scheduled tee times don't mean much.
