El Rio Golf Club
About
El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

El Rio rocks!
Great little course; very laid-back and staff is always friendly! Nice layout & good mix of shade & sun. Can break out the driver a few times as well. It’s been my go-to course for the summer!
Find your happy place here…
I like El Rio because it is close/convenient, it is not expensive, the staff is great, and they keep the course in decent playable shape year round. It’s not a fancy, or long course, but you’re also not paying $200 a round to play.
I tend to hit long, so the only hole I can use my driver on is the first one, after that it’s essentially short game work on the par 3’s and short par 4’s (most of which the green is reachable with a mid iron - I hit about 175 with my 7 iron)
The greens are challenging because they have some slope and are quite small, which for me is great for sharpening my short game skills, which need a lot of work.
It’s a great value to me because it’s convenient, and it’s a great place to take novice golfers who are learning because the fairways are mostly wide and quite forgiving if you happen to shank one way off course off the tee. Thanks for being there - we’ll probably see you again.
Just good to practice
Its an ok course but the greens are in really bad conditions and tees are extremely close to the past par a bit dangerous in my opinion if you are not a good player. What i really do not like is the greens
Good value for the money.
Played this course in 2 1/2 hrs. Was very hot but they had ice water at several spots. Most greens and fairways were good and well kept. Used 4 or 5 iron off the tees and wedge and putter. You really don’t need a driver or anything else.
El Rio
Like the course, very good price, nothing for longhitters, but good for practicing short game
The only place
The only place where it acceptable to pee in the shower. T boxes and greens could use some work.
An Excellent Outing
We play this course every year and always enjoy it. It's a bit more challenging than the average executive course but that adds to the enjoyment. The gentleman who checked us in was super accommodating and the pace of play was good. A couple of tee boxes were a bit chopped up but the rainy season will remedy that. We recommend this course.
