El Rio Golf Course in Fort Myers is a player-friendly layout that will appeal to players of all skill levels. It's an ideal course for beginners who are looking to get in some practice on a full-length course. The layout consists of mostly par 3s and most of the holes are on the shorter side. Though it's a seemingly simple design, the greens have slopes that range from subtle to dramatic, which can make determining your approach to them a daunting task. Trees that line the fairways demand accuracy but the landing areas are generous. El Rio Golf Course has a pace of play that makes it convenient if you're looking for a quick round and the layout is gentle enough for beginners, and even junior players, to tackle with confidence.

Get what you pay for
A little rough around the edges.. many tees were mostly sand... someone needs to address it.
Nice executive course
As a single, I was impressed with staff and players alike. The 18 hole course is in good condition and to my chagrin I was able to check out the sugar like sand in several traps. Course was busy but the good pace of play meant only short delays at each tee. Pleasant experience overall.
Just not worth it
Greens are more like fairways. The holes were not clean cut and looked more a hole dug in the backyard by a toddler. Pace of play was already slow af and the guy running it let a group that finished play the back nine again. Holes so close together you hear a “fore” every 5 min.

Great practice course
This was a great short course with one exception: holes 10-13 were way to close together and too close to the driving range for comfort. Staff was very welcoming and down-to-earth.

Due to being "in season" the course was alot busier than usual leading to a bit of slow play. I guess it's to be expected. All in all still a good day on the course!
This course was fun to play
Course was better than expected for an executive course. Pace of play was slow but I have experienced slower at other courses. A ranger more than likely could help speed up play to a certain extent during snowbird season. I understand that this is their busy season and don’t want to chase away business. . The staff was excellent and customer oriented which is difficult to find in this day and age. Overall I would recommend this course for a fun day with a few challenging holes.
Congratulations! You did it! One of the Worst Courses in America
I don’t even know where to start. This course is just terrible. It doesn’t even tell you that this is a par 3 course and not a regular course. I didn’t even need to break out the driver or long clubs. We got there and went into the clubhouse to check in and a very unfriendly person behind the desk said we were way to early for our tee time. Come check in and pay right at your start time we were told. Which was odd because most places want you to be at the tee box at start time. However when we got to the tee box we waited 30 minutes before it was our turn to hit. After that we had to wait 10 minutes for almost every single hole because there were so backed up. The course was also just not in good condition at all. Wasn’t expecting something super nice for spending $41 but think it should be better conditions then that. In final, if you want to tell your friends you got to play on one of the worst courses in America then I wish you a happy time here!

Course needs a ranger
Pace of play is poor. Threesome in front of us hit 7 tee shots on the 10th hole while 2 groups were waiting behind them. Any suggestion to speed up for courtesy reasons we’re entirely ignored.
