About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Rakes needed
Had a great day with some friends. A good day. Everytime I play this course, I enjoy it more and more. At one time this course was pretty run down. But management is constantly making progress. And the course is showing constant improvement. And it's a good course layout. The only real complaints that I have are 2. 1st. Rakes on golf carts is the dumbest idea in golf ever. And on top of that, all your carts don't have rakes. Buy some rakes & put them in the bunkers. And lastly, spread t-times out. 6 minutes is too close.
Liked the course but they over booked an they put me on hole 10 and when I came around there was a huge crowd on hole 1 so didn’t stick around for that show.

Have played this course many times this year and off and on last year......have taken different squads with me and they all just love it..... Fairways are a little tight but that is to be expected this time of year....
The greens are the best in a 20 mile area.... just gorgeous!!!!
Highly recommend this course and will continue to play there...
A waste of time
I had a 11:36 tee time booked and reserved on this website. When I arrived at the course (a one hour round trip) there was a one-hour delay in play. In addition, No carts available.
I've played this course before with no problem, BUT...
My review
Overbooked
Like this course very much. Always a challenge. But, when you get there and wait a half an hour for a cart, it can be frustrating especially when it’s after 2:00 and the course is packed and you want to get 18 in, which would have been easily possible based on my tee time. Other than that hiccup, I will be playing there again soon.
Round 3
Great layout very smooth greens. Bunkers need attention, poor drainage had to pull out of traps most of the time. Fairways were average thin in some spots. This course is a great value and offers a challenge for all golfers regardless of ability. Will continue to make the drive to play this course.
Nice layout and excellent for the price
This course is well designed with some challenging holes and is picturesque. One of the best values for the money in this area. Would recommend playing this course. The course is in reasonably good condition for this time of year, and greens are well kept. This would be my go to course anytime.
Love the Layout
I’ve played this course three times in the past two months.
Yes the carts paths are terrible, yes there are a few bare spots in the fairway, but the greens are in great shape and there is grass on most of the tee boxes. I just really like the layout of this course. It’s a good price if you can land a Hot Deal.
Good Course
The course layout has many different holes with excellent (some exceptional) greens. The cart paths are very deteriorated in places and the bathrooms very poor. Not a place to hang after golf, just enjoy the course. Carts are average but acceptable. Overall we will play again because we liked the course and the couple we played with who are members.
Very disorganized
The course greens were nice but the fairways
and areas around greens and tees were not good.
Also the people in front of us cussed and were obnoxious the whole day.

Great Course!
Greens are in excellent condition and fairways just the same. A little tight in some places, but perfectly challenging. Bunkers are sandy and in great shape compared to most for the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Water comes into play a lot on the back but is very managable.
Nice corse
A very nice golf course. A few complaints are the bathrooms are very dirty Looks like the toilets haven’t been cleaned in moths. Also the cart paths really need improving.
