Country Club of Silver Springs Shores
About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course!
Greens are in excellent condition and fairways just the same. A little tight in some places, but perfectly challenging. Bunkers are sandy and in great shape compared to most for the price. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Water comes into play a lot on the back but is very managable.
Nice corse
A very nice golf course. A few complaints are the bathrooms are very dirty Looks like the toilets haven’t been cleaned in moths. Also the cart paths really need improving.
Gp
Good course for the money fairways need some attention.
Great Layout
Pace of play was fine. Played in about 4 hrs. Fairways are sparse, but I don’t mind tight lies. If you end up in a bare spot, roll it to the grass. It’s not the US Open. The greens were in very good shape. Speed was medium to quick.
Yes I’ll be back several more times before March.
Back nine layout was nice, plenty of water and traps. A lot of wild life, cranes and even a couple of gators. Really worth it if you catch it for the right price.
Great value
Good conditions and outstanding greens. But if poor cart paths and dismal rest rooms bother you, go someplace else. Great golf a a reasonable price.
Worth the Silver we paid to play
Drove from Spring Hill to play this course and glad we did. Great experience playing a good designed layout. CK in was great, "Irish" starter was one of the best and all the greens were smooth. Some good planned out holes made shoot making shot making a premium. Tee shot on hole 18 is one tough demanding shot! YES, some cart paths were rough, but really what difference does it make, you are playing the course not cart paths! Get over it, rather they spent their $$ on over seeding, greens, and upkeep. Club house was "tired" but again the outside product is what we golfers are going to play. Some bunkers weren't well raked, but some because YES you are a lazy butt for not raking them after playing out of them! Yes, you are who I'm taking about! Rake the bunkers and fix ball marks and park on cart paths because we can all then experience the best conditions possible! Go play this track, you will be glad you did!
Love Those Greens!
Always enjoyed the layout of this course, which is in good shape with the exception of the greens which are exceptional. Eye-popping overseeded green and true-rolling. 18 perfect examples of what conditions are obtainable at this time of year. Our pace of play was fine, since the starter let us play the back nine first. The par 4 third hole on the front nine is subject to a big logjam since some players will lay up in front of the pond and others will try to drive the green. You usually end up with two foursomes waiting on the tee. Other than that, a very enjoyable 18 holes despite the rainy weather. Yes, the cart paths are beat up, but who cares? A great value on a great course.
