Country Club of Silver Springs Shores
About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

Golfer Reviews
Great golf holes
Very nice layout. Older, traditional course. Several holes where water is close by. Greens in great shape. Staff very friendly & helpful. Refreshment cart on course. Pace of play - 3 hours 15 minutes for 18 holes - hard to beat. As mentioned in other reviews, the cart paths need some work ... but golf happens on the course, not the paths.
Overall a great place to play.
Nice course and great staff
Course was nice and bar/restaurant staff were excellent
Great Course Layout
Although the course layout is great and the greens are very nice, the rest of the course needs some TLC.
SS Shores
The only negative for me is the condition of the "cart paths", reminiscent of the Oregon Trail......
Cart paths
Cart paths are beyond horrible condition. They have gone unattended for years. Greens are very good. Will play course again.
Nice course and great restaurant/bar staff
Nice course with a good layout that I have played many times. The restaurant/bar staff is also excellent providing great service.
Could of been worse
The track itself was not bad. Most holes were straightforward with a few tricky ones in there. Tee boxes and fairways were rough. Bunkers were unplayable. Greens were in solid shape no complaints there. Bit busy overall seemed like they overbooked. It’s about what you expect with a 30 dollar round.
a bit scruffy
The course layout is nice. There are no homes along the front nine which is very peaceful as it's just golf. On the back nine there are older style condos and there was a constant beating of music off in the distance. Didn't like that. My review: The greens were good, the fairways were mixed with some areas having lots of weeds, and the cart paths are mostly shot, As it wasn't too expensive I would go back and play again. Obviously this was a decent place at one time in the past.
Nice course
Fairways are good, greens are nice. Always enjoy playing here.
