About
Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

. Nice Course
A good layout the challenges the average golfer. Greens in good shape. Staff is friendly. Clubhouse facilities need a ton of updates and general repairs.
So disappointing!
Today was the second time we have arrived at Silver Springs only to find out they have overbooked large groups before our tee time. The clubhouse staff did not mention when we checked in that there were no golf carts available. Upon checking with the cart attendant, he was reluctant to tell me that there was a 45 minute wait before for any carts would be coming in. The shop attendant was kind enough to call and get us a credit with GolfNow when we decided not to play and wait.

The fairways are sparse on the front , a lot better on the back. The greens were in excellent condition. Could be a little faster. If they speed it up to much general public wouldn’t be able to handle it do to a lot of angulations.. really need to play tee boxes one up from your normal game to really. Enjoy this course.
Cart paths are terrible, the rest of the course awesome
Wonderful Course - Pace of Play Very Slow
The course is in great shape and challenging. Yet the only draw back is the pace of play. Tee times are set every six minutes and from the start you are backed up. Plan for a 5-6 hour round when busy. Drink cart service and Clubhouse Bar/Restaurant is fabulous.
Get past the cart trails!
If you rated this course based on the cart trails...well, forget it. BUT, even thought he trails are a disaster (and I understand they expect to replace them in the not-too-distant future) the course itself is a real gem. The greens
do a lot make this course...smooth, fast, sneaky breaks, FUN! The fairways are good, the bunkers regularly groomed, and some of the most interesting holes anywhere--especially #3, #12, #17 & #18. Elevation changes, narrow fairways, a real test!
Nice enough course
Enjoyed our round of golf on a Tuesday afternoon. Greens were in great shape and there was enough variety in the layout of the course to be interesting and yet not super frustrating. It was wonderful to have a beverage cart with a pretty good selection of items but the one issue we had was that the on-course restrooms were horrible. Both of them had no toilet paper, no soap, and very low water pressure. Maybe not an issue for the men but women have different expectations and needs.
Course management
Took my group of four 5 hours to play 18 holes. Management didn’t have a ranger and they allowed a group of five to play, also two twosomes to play separately! We had people at the end of their round not finish and drove past ourselves and groups behind us, because taking so long, will be along while before going back!

Was very busy so not my normal playing pace but I just love this course . Very good value !
