Opened in 1969, the Country Club at Silver Springs Shores has been host to a variety of mini-tour and U.S. Open Section qualifying events. It is known for having some of the fastest and most severe greens in the area. Desmond Muirhead, a longtime associate of Jack Nicklaus, designed the golf course, giving it a different character on the front and back nines. The first half of the golf course is a traditional parkland layout that mixes native trees and wide-open meadows. The back nine is a true Florida-style golf course with water coming into play on six holes. Country Club at Silver Springs Shores finishes with one of its toughest water holes, a par 5 starts with an intimidating tee shot past a massive lake that wraps around the landing area. Many locals consider Silver Springs Shores to be one of the best public golf courses in the Ocala area.

The fairways were like hitting off hard pan. Cart

paths were horrible. Golf now charge me 6.00

for booking a tee time and i had to pay at coarse.

Could have got the same price by calling the coarse and saved the 6.00 .The club said they no longer use golf now. Shame on golf now for not removing the club. I feel

golf now rip me off. Shame on you.

Back Nine is Long but also with a lot of character

New full-time snow-bird in 2023. Was previously part-time. I was potentially thinking about joining as price is VERY good, at least for me. Major reason I booked this course. Price was more than fair. Like the layout, especially back nine, but not so great conditions, even considering time of year. You need to play a few times to get a feel for where to hit it. We played Gold on front, blue on back. Greens have a lot of grain in them, typical for FL/South. 18 very tricky. Par 3’s are long from tees we played, all 180+ so very challenging course.

I will likely not join, due #1 to conditions and #2 distance for me as I thought this course was about twice as close as it turned out.

I will likely not return but I might suggest anyone local may want to try it.

Nice layout, skimpy fairway grass ( it is winter), beautiful greens

Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Tough holes but if you can get to the greens, any putts you miss are your own fault.

Nice lay out but

The greens had a lot of grass and were in good shape. A bit slow.

Fairways are rough. Not a lot of grass in spots.

Cart paths are in very rough shape.

Great layout, greens were very dense and receptive. A little tough to get the speed down. Otherwise in great shape. The tees you normally play move up one. You will enjoy the course a lot better. On course and off course refreshments very reasonable.

Pick Your Spot

The course is nice. You do need to pick a spot and hit it, which I couldn't do 😆. Nice greens but I hope that you are putting uphill. I will definitely play this course again.

SSS

Local golfer. Was told I couldn’t walk because people would complain about pace. Got out on the first tee and found a fivesome and sixsome ahead of me hacking it all over the place, LOL. After spending 45 min on the first hole, I managed to bounce around the front nine and get some golf in. Fun course and the bar is great. Range closed because they said picker was down. Depending on your intentions, they’re might be better options in the area.

The course was great. The only problem I had was that they use pot holes for speed control on the cart paths.LOL

Cart paths need some maintenance

I play early in the AM as I am from up North, so the pace of play was quick (mostly as fast as I wanted to play).

The course is user friendly for all skill levels, and the greens are consistent, somewhat slow, but consistent.

Overall the course is great. Like a lot of courses right now, the fairways could use a good drink. The greens are lush and beautiful. Good value
