Why so wet?
Almost all of the greens and surrounding areas were unusually wet and soggy. There has been no rain since before I played the previous week. I can only assume the sprinklers had been run to allow the greens to ice to protect them from the previous night's freeze. The greens, fringes, and approach chipping areas were very wet on almost every hole, even for our noon tee time. The course also appeared to have been quite busy since my previous outing; overwhelming number of ball marks on all greens that weren't evident the previous week. The ball marks were so numerous that putting was frustrating because of how much we had to repair pitch marks in our lines. The lack of etiquette and course appreciation from so many players are disappointing to say the least. The Hot Deals rate made the round bearable, but paying a regular rate would have added to the frustration.
Recovering from heavy rains
The course was quite spongy and wet, which was expected considering the heavy rains the previous two days. The greens were quite slow, I'm sure from a combination of the heavy rains and mowers not able to tend the course. Overall, the course was in very good shape with all things considered. Would recommend this course as it will be very playable once it has an opportunity to dry out. The course normally drains quite well, but it's hard to accommodate 6"+ of rainfall over three days.
alright course
the playing condition were not too bad. It was cart path only. however the bunkers were filled with water. We got started late because there was a large group ahead of us. I believe they were members. Two groups of 4 and two groups of 5. They would not let us go off the back 9 first. He gave me a stupid explanation. He made me feel like a nobody because I booked on golf now. If they don't like golfnow golfer why are they in the program. The other players I was with went to get some drinks for the course and the workers were very unfriendly. Other than that it was ok. I believe I was charged fees that I should not have been.
Fun tight course
The fairways were a bit narrow and the greens were surprisingly fast. Made for a challenging but fair and fun round. The pace of play however was very slow
Fun round...but GOLFNOW customer service was MIA
Stonebrook's greens are in great shape; they're rolling relatively fast and pure. Today's round was great because we had folks from Pensacola and Milton meeting at a convenient location right in-between.
However, this morning I learned one member of our group worked for a sister course to Stonebrook and didn't need to pay a greens fee. I tried contacting GOLFNOW to modify my reservation, but there was an "over three hour" wait time to speak to a customer service representative. Can someone please contact me to address this issue? I was unable to modify my reservation using the app (and the website).
Also, it doesn't seem there's any other way to contact GOLFNOW customer service. I hope this review will suffice for me.
slow play no marshall
The course what relatively clear because the weather conditions were not very nice. That did not stop play from being excruciatingly slow. A twosome of walkers jumped in on our tee time and although they were walking their pace of play had them waiting at every shot as my group did too. We were backed up behind a threesome that played very slowly and did not allow faster groups through. This pace of play at Stonebrook has become very common. It was so bad this time that my group decided to end our round after nine holes. I will not be back again soon.
Excellent Winter Shape
I hate to have to rate this a 4 for course conditions but it is winter so nothing is as nice as it would be in summer but if you play winter rules, no problem. Great pro shop staff, so professional.
Great Course
This is a must play for everyone. One of the best ever.
very slow play
the course was as expected however, the pace of play was very slow
Great time to play
It's a great time to play Stonebrook. The greens are in very good condition and are getting some speed to them. The fairways are also in good shape and firming up for some good roll out with tee shots. I enjoyed it so much yesterday that I returned today to play it two days straight.
Golf Experience
I enjoyed playing with three other Golf Now subscribers who were out on a lovely day enjoying golf at it’s finest. I definitely will be a loyal user looking to play on short notice at a nice discount. This service will help golf courses remain profitable and allow retired guys like me to be able to afford to play.
Course in good shape
Bermuda grass starting to die but still in pretty good shape for mid-November.
Very slow
Played as a twosome, took 4.5 hours. There were two fivesomes in front of the twosome in front of us. Had to wait on every shot for 18 straight holes. Course was in good shape. The greens were a little inconsistent, but not bad. Layout was fun, too. Also was not impressed at all by the staff in the pro shop, felt very second class citizen for purchasing thru Golfnow. I won't be going back.
Great Course, Bad Pace of Play
We really enjoyed playing this course. It had a ton of squirrels running around and other wildlife! The course was in great shape, greens rolling true and holding the ball great. Got this course for an incredible price too, it was worth more than we paid. The dining hall was very nice, with the staff inside making us feel welcome. There was also a cart girl driving around any time you needed a drink or snack.
