Scenic, challenging, fun to play
We played the South-West combination. It was a challenging 6100 yards from the white tees with two more sets of even longer tees for big hitters. Most fairways are narrow and you are quickly punished for missing the fairways (not much rough before you are in a hazard or woods). But the course is scenic with interesting design features and good elevation changes - well-placed hazards and carries over water or environmental areas that really make you think about the shots you need to hit. There are even two or three par 4’s under 300 yards that make you think about going for it, always fun. Course conditions were not the best, but not horrible, especially considering it is mid-November. The tees, fairways, and greens were actually in pretty good shape, but the rough was very rough – a lot of bare spots, crab grass (only in the rough, no crab grass in fairways) and, generally speaking, lies you don’t want to be hitting off of. The staff was friendly and pace of play was good, maybe because it was a foggy morning and perhaps a fair number of reservations were canceled or no-shows. We finished in just under 4 hours. Not much selection for food. Basically cold sandwiches, hot dogs, Italian sausages, chips and beverages that include several beers on tap. They did have a grill and French fryer, but were not making any fries, and hamburgers were not even on the printed menu. But for about $8 you can get a decent lunch. I’d recommend it to friends as a different place to play and give it a 3 or 4 out of 5 stars. It's no TPC course, but its better than your average public/community course.
Good deal for the money
The south to west course was in good shape. The greens were soft but they were very fast. The biggest issue is it took almost 5hrs to play. They put us behind a twosome yes a twosome that only had one bag which they shared and they played horrible. They held up the entire course there was no rangers to be found. After numerous attempts to push them along they finally quite after 15 holes.
Great Day, but need a Marshall
Really needed a Marshall to push the group ahead of us. A 3-some ahead, we were back up to 6 golfers on the 14th tee box.
Needs Attention
Played on Labor Day and paid holiday prices, which would be fine except the condition of the course was terrible. $68 for a round on a course that has unplayable fairways and tire tracks through their greens is ridiculous. This course has the potential to be great and has been in the past, but they are running it into the ground. Also, the staff could be friendlier and more helpful.
Poor Course
I was shocked to see a golf course in such a bad condition. Had to give up playing on 13 hole because of the Course was not playable.
greens were arrated staff was rude wont play here again
very rude people greens horrible staff unpleasant should have let us know greens arrified
Overall, a nice course.
Overall I really like the course. I would certainly play it again. It wasn't in perfect shape but the course is well designed and offers good challenge depending on the tees you choose to play from. We've had a lot of rain lately which contributed to some of the conditions. However, with 1 of the 4 nines closed outright and basically funneling all the groups from the 2 front nines to a single back nine created some waiting, didn't like that. One fairway was unplayable due to its condition. Nonetheless our foursome had a very enjoyable round and i have no doubt we'd go back again.
Slow!!!
Slowest round I have played in a very long time. We started our round just after an outing and were promised that once we make the turn the outing was done and the pace would speed up. It did not! The coures workers continued to just drive and not say anything to the extremely slow players ahead of us.
Nice course
Would like to play it again after the greens have healed from being aerated
Course needs help. Too early in the season maybe
This course was in poor condition. Greens were recently aerated and they were not playable. The putts bounced around all over the place and you could not get a line. They should not have charged full fair for the conditions the course was in. In addition, the course itself is not well maintained. If you are not in the faiway you are in either a patch of dirt or a clump of grass. This can be just off the fairway too not way off in the woods either.
Not worth full price on Saturday/Sunday mornings.
I understand it takes a lot of money to keep bunkers filled with sand, but don't build them if you can't make the effort to fill them. I have played here for a few times every year and I have never seen sand in ALL the bunkers.
It is still a nice course and you will be challeged on most holes.
terrible condition
I have played this course many times and this was the worst I have seen it. The greens that had grass needed to be cut and several had dirt around the hole placement. They also aerated the greens and did not tell us about any of this before playing. They did give me $20 towards another round after I said something. This should have been disclose upfront and given to me for the round I played.
Nice layout - Terrible shape
I am from out of the area and book courses relying on web sites. This is the first time I have been disappointed.
I can't stress enough how bad the conditions of the fairways, greens, bunkers, golf carts and even the tee boxes were. The place was in shambles. Some greens had bare dirt spots, some were "furry". On one hole that was overgrown I reached down and pulled up a blade of grass, it measured over 1" long. Even the cart paths were in bad shape. There is no way I would play here again.
I booked online at $50 ea. and a local person that joined our twosome had paid only $25. Even he told us this place was bad and he overaid. What a ripoff. This was a bad ending to a nice road trip.
