First time back in a while
Aberdeen was in decent shape for how relatively dry it’s been in the area. The greens were the best part of the course but seemed on the slow side. Saw a lot of poorly fixed ball marks, though. The fairways and tee boxes were alright but a couple of them were scruffy. Plus, there were sections on a number of fairways that were completely hard pan.
Our group as a whole wasn’t driving it great off the tee but since the course is pretty wide open (not many trees around the fairways) we played off the adjacent fairways a couple times to get back in play.
Remains a fun track to play and it was pretty crowded. However, we got around in 3:40 without hardly ever waiting on any shots. The groups ahead of us looked to be pretty skilled as we never really caught up to them. I’d say the course is a decent value even at the full rate.
Aberdeen in June
The course is in a flood zone and it looks like all of the recent spring rains have left the course not quite up to its usual standards. Maybe they just haven’t been able to mow all of the tee boxes but many were in poor shape. The greens were not bad maybe a little slower than expected but that again could be because of all of the rain we’ve had. Pace of play was good at 4 hours . Layout, staff and carts were good . Will definitely return..
Solid as always.
Tee boxes are green, fairways are green, rough is thick, greens are smooth. All in great shape. Some of the best staff in the area.
Not back up to usual standards yet.
I understand they had fairway irrigation breakdowns last season that really hurt the conditions of this usually fine track. Fairways are still a bit patchy in spots and too many dirt spots but hopefully it will come back strong soon.
Greens and tee boxes were fine.
Concerning Conditions
This is a go-to course of mine and one of my favorites in the area for the value, but the condition yesterday has me concerned for the season. Was told the greens were aerated almost 3 weeks ago, and they were still very pocked and bumpy and did not roll true. Tee boxes were sparse and the fairways were relatively hard and thin. Most bunkers were marked "ground under repair." The whole course just seemed very dry in general, and felt like playing in late August, not early April.
A rebuilding year
I’m not sure what happened but Aberdeen has fallen upon hard times. The greens had been punched recently which is normal. They must be in the process filling in the bunkers as they were all terrible and muddy. The fairways were okay but the tee boxes were rough. Lots of construction projects in the middle of the fairways with many roped off areas. I love the layout but it is in rough shape. Nice guys at the pro shop, no cart girl and your typical grumpy old man as the starter . I got a good deal through Golf Now (probably a hint) so not terribly disappointed. I hope it improves through the season but keep your expectations low.
