Coyote Springs Golf Club
About
Coyote Springs Golf Club (previously known as Coyote Springs - The Chase Course) is located less than one hour from the Las Vegas Strip and just 45 minutes from Mesquite, Nevada. This Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is highly regarded as a must-play by Vegas golf aficionados. The course's stunning setting is sometimes referred to as "nature's cradle" since it's situated in a verdant valley completely surrounded by majestic mountains and peaks. While the scenery may be beautiful, don't let it distract you from the golf course's many challenges. Water and bunkers await you at almost every turn. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 second, whose bunkers at the second landing area will force you to think carefully about how to approach the Augusta-like green. In addition to the golf course, Coyote Springs offers one of the largest practice facilities in the country. This 19-acre facility includes 13 target greens and a short game area for pitching, chipping, and bunker practice.

This course is an absolute beauty
Fabulous scenery surrounds this golf course. Course management is a must on this well groomed oasis. Well placed bunkers, split fairways, and dogleg approaches add a challenge to your round.
Best conditioned course and value in southern Nevada
As a local, I think this is the best value and pristine conditioned course in southern Nevada and the Las Vegas area. A classic and challenging Jack Nicklaus design nestled in a tranquil part of the desert away from the hustle and bustle of the strip is a great escape for the die hard golfer. Greens run fast and true and there is usually not a blade of grass out of place in the fairways. Some good elevation changes as well and nice views of the valley, ponds and surrounding mountains. It does get hot in the summer but I find the staff professional and generous, providing unlimited water for the players. If you're visiting the Las Vegas area, this course is well worth the hour's drive north of the city. You won't regret it.
A++++++
Amazing! Thank you jack! Shot one of my worst scores ever but enjoyed every minute! Tip top shape this course is a must play when in vegas or mesquite. Practice area alone was worth major $$$ so come early!
Tough Track on a Windy Day
Had a 12:40 tee time - anticipated being able to get 18 in. By the time we got to the back nine, marshal said it was backed up and we would not finish. So we ended up playing the front nine again. Fairways had been punched recently (weren't informed of that when we made the tee time) and combined with the windy conditions made it a tough day. Greens were somewhat forgiving on approach shots but very hard to read putts. Fairways slope in all different directions so finding a good target line is a challenge. I think there are better options for the price closer to Vegas.
Best Layout in NV
Amazing layout on this Nicklaus designed course. Lots of options off the tee. Big undulated greens. Out in the middle of nowhere, but worth the trip. Bring food and drinks. They do supply plenty of water. Almost never anyone on the course, so plays very fast.
One-of-a-kind near Las Vegas and Mesquite
The oasis that is Canyon Springs has been an enigma of the Nevada golf scene for years: a Jack Nicklaus signature layout designed to be the centerpiece of a master planned city. Yet years later, only the golf course is here. Golfers need not complain though, because those willing to make the drive from Las Vegas or Mesquite, the reward is a Top 100-ranked golf course at a bargain price (and bargains are something the Vegas golf scene has far too little of). There's tons of grass, annual rye with no need for overseeding, so conditions are top-notch. It's beautifully sculpted and there are plenty of water features and hole variety to keep things interesting.
My shortcomings with the place are this: for starters, pace of play is pretty bad, and it's always going to be bad, because of how spread out the course is, as well as where golfers have to park their carts near greens. Often times, it's a hike back-and-forth, so there's a lot of lost time out on the course between shots. Secondly, it's an isolated place, and there's still just a temporary clubhouse, so it's tough to really enjoy yourself after the round in a double-wide trailer with little more than some cold sandwiches and beer.
But, shot-to-shot, it's a great course, and by the sound of it, development and lot sales are going to start ramping up here very shortly. So many the future is bright after all out at Coyote Springs.
Great layout
Played this course on an annual golf trip with buddies on the way to Las Vegas from St. George, Utah. Wish it was closer to Las Vegas! We were greeted by Tony, the starter, who was extremely friendly and welcoming! I had an issue with shipping my clubs back to my home course using ShipSticks. The issues were resolved very graciously by Curt Simmons, Pro. The course is tough, with typical Nicklaus nuances around the greens. It was windy the day we played and the greens did not hold well. Ended up over on many holes and you do NOT want to be passed the pin on this course! Overall, a most enjoyable experience!
A Desert Must
Designed as a Planned Residential Community, to date, there are no homes constructed around the course. Located in the middle of a desert basin approximately 1 hour from Las Vegas and 40 Minutes from Mesquite. If you are in the area, play it as soon as you can, and before any homes block the incredible desert mountain views.
The course is beautiful, and in great condition. Stay hydrated as you are literally playing in the middle of the desert.
Perfection where you don't expect. ..
Just awesome condition. Except for bunkers. Best greens around, very fast. Very challenging course. I have been -1 through 6 several times, but that's were the fun starts. Subtle challenges test your shot making decisions. You really have to think the hole out before you tee off. Course has a ton of water and demands well struck balls to score well. Haven't broke 78, but feels like you should go par.
Plus I just love playing anything Mr.Palmer was involved with. Price is crazy cheap for quality. Has become my regular track even though it's 30 minute drive.
What a find
Played from the tips and got my a.. handed to me... in a great way. Long, tough, and perfect condition. Took us 5+ hours to play with no waiting. I'm a single digit handicap and the 86 I shot felt like a good round. This will definitely go on my must play list for our annual Vegas golf vacation. I put this course on my top played list with Pebble, Torey, and Pumpkin Ridge.
Great course, slow pace.
Drove down from SLC to play Coyote and a couple other Mesquite area courses. We enjoyed Coyote Springs. The layout was great, fun holes, very challenging. Greens borderline hokey and a lot of places nearly impossible if not impossible to putt from. Only big complaint was the pace of play. We had the 11:40 time and finished in the nick of time before dark (around 5:00 @ the first of January). Waited on every single hole. Pace was so slow it was demoralizing. Not a marshall in sight. Would give this course another shot.
Tough place to play
Well worth the price paid for admission. I found a really cheap price. A really tough Nicklaus design. Not a straight putt on the course. I should have played from the white tees. The blue tees are longer than blue tees at other courses. The rough is long but helps to keep your ball from rolling into the desert. The course condition was very good considering this place is in the middle of nowhere. An hour drive from the strip was worth it. Staff is very friendly. Grass is very green and putts rolled true. I'd love to go back and play better.
Do not hesitate to make the drive
Sometimes I wonder why I get up in my Las Vegas hotel room first thing in the morning to go play golf. Part of this is to keep me out of trouble late at night on the casino floor and part of it is for glorious mornings like I had at Coyote Springs. While I certainly caught a break on the weather (sunny, low 60's and no wind), I was first off the tee on a Sunday and it was literally just me and the golf course. The only sound I could hear was when I hit the flagstick with an 8-iron on the Par 4 sixth hole. The staff at this property was fantastic and the Nicklaus signature design is one of his finest. Mountains on both sides of the course and absolutely no buildings whatsoever around the edges. I came away from this experience with more pictures than pars, but I will not hesitate to make the drive from the Las Vegas Strip at the crack of dawn again. Besides, I honestly didn't see a posted speed limit on the road to get to Coyote Springs...so let's just say my commute did not take as long as I initially thought.
Fairways are amazing greens need attention
If the greens received attention this course would be five star Everything else is in great shape the fairways were outstanding as were the traps and t boxes
The course is a challenge, but greens are really bad shape
At this time, I don't recommend spending your time or money on this course. The greens are in terrible shape with many bare spots and a lot of sod patches. Evidently sprayed with the wrong chemicals? There are plenty of nice courses in Vegas to play, so at this time don't waste the hour drive to play this course. I would play it again when the greens have recovered.
great layout
This course has a great layout, several water features and a friendly staff.
No Marshall, greens very poor, very bad experience
Without going into the details that seems to get me removed from commenting I just want to say we spent most of our 4 hours plus on the first nine because of the playing conditions. Very overcrowded twilight $109 my worst golf experience in several years. Tried to connect with person in charge in the pro shop and called gen mgr and left message no response several days later.
I will have to say the gal that met us call her the outside greeter very nice gal and also cart gal very nice. Gave them tips as not their fault.
Toughest greenstone putt in the Las Vegas area
The greens were a little rough due to seasonal maintainence, it would have nice to know that before I booked the time. It almost an hours drive outside of Las Vegas.
Most challenging course. Mid to high handicappers should play white tees.
The course has had some challenge with the greens after aeration.
They are working on bringing it back to pristine conditions, as once were
Great layout
When I played it, the greens had been recently verti-cut and there were some bare spots on the greens. The layout is great, well worth the drive from Las Vegas.
