King Kamehameha Golf Club
About
Maui’s only 18-hole private golf club, The King Kamehameha Golf Club is offering a limited opportunity to experience Maui’s best and become a “Member for a Day”.
Hugging the West Maui Mountains, The King Kamehameha Golf Club offers magnificent bi-coastal ocean views while marrying nature with classic design.
The course, named in honor of Hawaii’s greatest King was originally designed by Ted Robinson Sr. in 1991 and refreshed by Ted Robinson Jr. in 2005. The course works with nature and it will challenge you to use every club in your bag. Best yet? Sitting at 750 feet above sea level in central Maui, there are no surrounding homes or traffic to interfere with your game. The King Kamehameha Golf Club follows Robinson's philosophy: the golfer attacks, the designer defends.
After golf, you can enjoy the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed clubhouse that GolfDigest calls “The coolest clubhouse in the land.” It features elegant and casual dining rooms, cozy fireplaces and outdoor terraces as well as luxurious spas with fitness rooms for Men and Women. If someone in your group is not playing golf, be sure to call and book them a massage so they can enjoy the spa and meet you for lunch before or after your round.
King Kamehameha is a golf experience to put on the top of your list when visiting Maui.

Great round
Great time overal. Fantastic views in every direction, and in great shape for the season.
Get on when you can, before it goes fully private.
Fabulous!
Ending a 2 week vacation, the King was our last course to play. What a great way to exit Maui. My wife & I played a total of 8 times while here. If we had played this course earlier, we would have played it multiple times. Starting with the picturesque Frank Lloyd Wright inspired clubhouse, everyone should spend some extra time exploring. Make sure to allow enough time for a meal in the dining room too. We had an excellently prepared Opakapaka. The pro shop is like no other I've ever been in & I've traveled extensively playing around the world. The course is very well maintained & provides a stiff challenge from the blue tees, yet is also forward tee friendly. The finishing par 5 frames another spectacular view of the clubhouse set in the mountain side. I can't say enough about this reasonably priced gem. If I lived in Maui, I would have already filled out an application for membership.
Great course
Open course with tricky greens which made for a fun round. Restaurant said it was only for members which I found a little odd.
Great Course
While I initially thought the course was somewhat pricey, it turned out to be a diamond in the rough. The course was well maintained and the greens were the fastest that I played on Maui. The zip line passes close to the course and it was interesting to see them travel by us.
The staff was incredibly friendly and even the head pro made a tour and stopped and greeted us as we played.
I will play it again upon a return trip to Maui!
A unique, solitary Maui splurge
This probably isn't the BEST course on Maui (Plantation or Wailea Gold earn that honor) but it's certainly the most opulent and lavish golf experience on the island. Being a private club that offers limited public play, you feel like you have the course completely to yourself. Definitely make a day of it and be sure to spend some time in the magnificent Frank Lloyd Wright-designed clubhouse (the locker rooms may be the best I've ever seen -- down to the sit-down Japanese-style showers).
Beautiful, challenging course.
The course was a little wet, but not bad. Fantastic layout with several very nice holes. I played Kampala bay, wailea emerald, and royal kaanapali during stay and this course is definitely on par with the best in Maui. I hope at least limited tee times remain available for Maui visitors.
A Private, Hidden Gem
This has got to be one of the best deals in Hawaii. A private course, perfectly maintained, accessible through their "member for a day" program. The staff is friendly and helpful and the views unbelievable. It is one of the most beautiful courses my father in law and I have played (and we've played plenty around the world). The only issue is the wind, of which there is plenty. That said, the day we played was an "extreme wind day" by even this course's standards. Nevertheless, we truly enjoyed the track and will be back (hopefully when there is a little less wind).
Beautiful course, beautiful setting
King Kam is a private course that offers "member for a day" play. The building is a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright design; the course is beautifully groomed and maintained. There are elevation changes on every hole and many different angels of sidehill lies, beautiful water holes, the course is woman friendly. The staff is incredibaly friendly and accommodating, the pro shop has a great selection of both men's and women's clothes and accessories, the restaurant serves yummy food. If King Kam is offering "member for a day" take the time and play this course you will not be disappointed.
play it if you get the chance
we decided to play this course as they are offering limited play to the public. found the course in excellent condition. course was very challenging from the blue tees, greens pristine, many multi tiered and difficult to read. was not too windy when we played tho that can certainly affect play if its very windy. we all thought compared to the kaanapali courses you got much more for your money here. finished the round in about 4 hours, very good pace of play. tho it is a drive from either the kaanapali side or wailea side we all felt it is worth the drive and would certainly play there again. our favorite round (out of 4) during our week on maui.
Beautiful view from almost every hole, with water fountains adding detail.
We played on a less than normal windy day and the course played to our levels. Nothing too difficult, but each hole required accurate approach shots, and very wide fairways.
The staff was very friendly and the pro shop carried a lot of nice apparrel.
Overall a very enjoyable day.
Beautiful views of the valley.
Pro shop staff was very friendly. Cart barn staff not so much. Course needs attention, many areas of brown and dead grass. The greens are pristine and roll true. If it's windy, don't waste your money.
