Maui Nui Golf Club

NB: this was an aeration rate so I knew what I was getting. What was tough was the course routing. Luckily the person I was with had been given notes but made my Arccos useless. The course had been re routed. Shortened holes and fake Par 3s. Lots of turf damage and fungus on fairways and greens. The course had seen some things. Putting was as predicted. 2-putt max was suggested because of the damage on the greens and shag effect when trying to putt. Needed a full swing if your putt was more than 20’. Pace of play was borderline painful. This was Monday and a holiday, but no rangers. Had a guy with 2 kids going through lessons apparently (word of mouth back since we were 4 deep waiting on the tee box 12 onward. Had 2 groups of 4 couples playing for fun (which is OK, they seemed to pickup when appropriate), but round clocked almost 5 hrs.

Rented clubs - Calloway Elyte, a bit of wear and couldn’t adjust (bolts striped and rusted), 2 duplicate hybrid 26 degree clubs. 2 wedges 58 and A. They worked just fine though cost me twice as much as my round to borrow. Came with cute bag of Supersofts to use during round, which is probably good for most.

Positives: Everyone on the course we interacted with was great. Its Hawaii - and aloha spirit prevailed. Beverage cart was frequent and delightful. Found all the staff to be friendly and just had a great time overall.

You won’t get much for views outside of 2 holes, but if you had your own sticks, it was cheap entertainment, and fun to play as the trade winds kicked up in the afternoon - they added a fun layer to the day.

Have played here several times and it's always the same: Friendly staff, frustrating front nine due to poor conditions and 'temporary routing-(going on 6 years now) so GPS doesn't match holes, and better back nine conditions. Price is good for Maui, but Waiehu is a better course.

Hard to navigate, no signs showing hole number of tee box and yardage. Front nine not as enjoyable, as back nine. Loved selection and offerings in pro shop. Rental clubs and cart were great quality. All employees very friendly and helpful. Course needs a lot of mainteance

Have played this course three times in the past. I know a hurricane just missed this area and it was a lot of rain a couple weeks before we came, but the conditions of the course were poor at best. Greens were fuzzy in areas and skimmed in other areas. Fairways were not moan and debris throughout. The high rough made it almost impossible to find balls. I’ve played here in the past and for the rates charged. It was a very good deal to play here. Under these conditions, I just played, if you’re paying over $50 it’s too much. It’s a shame because I really like playing this course.

Course has potential but has several greens that have GIR areas. Greens also need to be cut, it was like putting on shag carpet. Would not go back currently

Price was right for what you get. Sounds of construction through the entire back nine, construction fences line the holes. Good enough for a 17-handicap like me, not a course you’ll tell stories about. Greens are shag carpet, eat your Wheaties and aim five feet past the hole! Actually put up a very low number (for me) on the back, very scoreable.

Putting is slower than California greens

The courses staff were great, friendly, and professional. The course s layout was nice. There were areas that need attention. Evidence of a drought was present al around the course. Otherwise it was fun playing it.

We wondered when we drove up why there was no one there. Now we know. The course was in very poor condition. I realize they had bad storms this past spring, but so did every other course. The greens hadn’t been mowed in some time. It was awful.

Great golf shop with friendly personalities along with affordable golf. The front nine is mid but the back nine is Tony the Tiger, Great! Picturesque views of the bay and mountains with low hanging clouds. Played with a couple of locals (Seattle Nick and UTEP 2 STEP from Florida) spit game about the local politics and golf course layout. Would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a affordable, beautiful course by Wailea.

First time playing this course and it was worth it. The greens and some tee boxes are a little banged up but you don’t finish on the tee boxes. Now if your a golf snub and don’t mind spending $325 on the Wailea courses then you fancy huh? Otherwise save your money, spend it at the local course which is a 5 minute drive from the villas and vanguards of Wailea. The golf and layout is great and the back nine is in much better shape. The Views though, C’mon man, can’t beat it. Want to escape from the sand and $300 family meals? Well here you are make a better choice with your discretionary funds and meet some locals to get the real 411 on Island politics. Big Texas shout out to Nick from Seattle and the cat who was golfing during his wife’s baby shower, lol, that’s mad funny! Also, to the cat working the prison really appreciate the hospitality and kindness brotha! One last mention, the restaurant needs to treat the locals much better. How do you turn away a group of paying patrons because they want to put two tables together, bad business model, do better!

I loved the layout of the course, fun to play.

It appears the course is going through some construction. The tee boxes were uneven and the greens were very poorly maintained.

Used to love this course but the greens on the front nine and half of the back nine are in horrible shape. There is a mix of grasses and dead spots that make it impossible to hit a straight putt. I had to move my ball several times just to get a clean putt.
