Not what we expected
For the price and because of its reputation of being a LPGA course, we expected better course conditions and service. Unfortunately, both were disappointing. The greens were very sandy, which made it difficult to determine proper putting speed, and some holes had all the tee markers on one tee box. We were not informed of this when scheduling our tee time. As for the service, we waited 15 minutes at the bag drop for someone to either bring us a cart or take our bags. We didn’t want to leave them unattended. Since no one came to get our bags, we took our bags to the back of the clubhouse ourselves. We were told by an employee that they did not have sufficient people working to have a greeter, then he walked away even though he saw I was carrying two bags (mine and my wife’s). He made no attempt to help, even though later he told management he had offered to help. While we were putting our clubs in the cart, we saw four employees hanging around the starter’s station, and they had three people behind the counter, but only one was busy at the time. Not sure why they couldn’t assign someone as greeter. I discussed our concerns with the head pro. He seemed genuinely concerned about our negative experience. He later told the general manager, who came out to the course to let us know that he appreciated the feedback and will try to rectify it. The course is beautiful and has a lot of potential, but I’m not sure it was worth the $160 per player during twilight hours, especially with the mediocre course condition and lack of service.
Nice course!
First time playing here. Fun and enjoyable golf course.
Good golf - don’t expect a view
Want golf in Hawaii to feel among nature. Ideally ocean views. Or, a round amongst the trees and hills. Ko Olina is set amongst homes in a resort community. While a pretty course it is not the experience I would prefer in Hawaii.
The course itself is challenging. The many two tiered make approach shots and chips important. Water is not really a problem except for 2 holes
One bummer is the range. They have mats for warmup. Would expect a grass range at a top course
Nice course
Great course for those looking to play where the pros play. Course’s biggest defense are the greens which are almost all elevated and have undulations. Driving range is nice and food is generally priced as any resort would be.
Gorgeous
Greens were recently aerated, which was the only detractor from this course. Service is amazing, course is beautiful. Great course to play.
