Turtle
First time playing here. The guy in the pro shop acted like he didn’t want to talk to me not the friendliest, starter was better. I do like the course greens in great shape fairways need a little more grass but good. The pace of play was excellent less than a 4 hour round as a threesome. I’ll play it again
Great golf complex in Central Florida
Played here with my friends from Michigan. They were very impressed with everything about these courses. We played the Turtle Course today and Deer course yesterday. Turtle is a scoring course with bunkers and hazards placed in strategic areas. Hit the ball straight and you score, slice or duck hook it and you’ll pay the price. The deer course plays longer then the yardage due to almost greens playing elevated. Plenty of areas to spray the ball and still recover. Minimal amount of hazards but still a challenging course. $40-60 price is very attractive pricing for a great gem in central Florida.
Nice course but busy
Conditions were good but the course was busy. Had a few delays but overall play was not bad
Routing Very Difficult and Pace of Play Excessive
The biggest detractor of the Turtle Run course is the location and finding the 1st tee, let alone, any hole on the course. Very little to no signage exists ensuring you’re heading the right way. Pictures on the sidewalk are faded and you’re expected to look for these to guide the way. I picked a starting time in the afternoon at 1pm that was part of a shotgun start and I was unprepared for that. It made for a confusing situation driving a good distance to the hole I was starting on,plus the hole I was told to start at, already had a complete 4some on. Pace of play was so bad, I only completed 15 holes in about 4 hours, and didn’t bother to turn back to the 1st hole.
Pace of Play and Conditioning Need Work
Overall, the golf course routing and design were pretty good, but the maintenance was a little rough. The greens were average meaning they lacked general smooth and predictable speeds. The fairways generally were ok but the rough was very sparse with a lot more muddy/sandy areas. The pace in the afternoon was a little excessive for a moderately challenging course (4 hours and 30 mins +) with a cart. No rangers appeared to monitor play and groups chose not to let faster groups play through.
Very slow pace of play. Way overbooked T times.
Expect an extended time of play.
Birthday Round
Enjoyed the course. Little longer from same tes as turtle course. Last 3 or 4 holes very challenging.
Pleasantly Surprised, can’t wait to go back
I booked this course as I was tired of dealing with traffic driving to Orlando. For less than $100 in March it can always be questionable, but this source was well worth the money and little bit further drive. The layout is fun and challenging, but still fair. The staff was very nice and the amenities are great for a public course. Can’t wait to come back to try out the other course on property.
Play
Nice course ,nice personal pace of play
slow fivesome in front of us didn’t rake traps no ranger on course.
A Great Time
My 81 year old father and I drove an hour and fifteen minutes from Okeechobee because our usual courses in Martin County were packed. It was a great time and the conditions and pace of play were excellent! We teed off between a foursome and a threesome and after the first couple of holes, we didn't see another group until the 11th hole. It was a twosome and we let them play through on the next Par 3 (#13).
We hit our tee shots while they were putting out on 12 and then they teed off and we all drive to the green together so we could mark our balls and they could finish the hole. One of the guys holed out a really difficult chip for a birdie 2! It was such a cool moment!
We finished in 3:45 which was great because my dad has really bad feet. Usually, on the East Coast, we get paired up with another twosome and it's hard for my dad to keep up. I understand why they do it but it is still tough. It was a great experience and we will definitely go back out there to play Turtle Run!
They also have a nice practice area and lunch at the restaurant was good as well.
