Not Bad
Found a great deal online for $18 for 18 with cart. Weather was really bad, temps in high 40's and very windy 25+ course was in decent shape, fairways a little beat up from heavy play, greens need some work with ball mark repairs. They don't have a beverage cart, which is good and bad, we have fully stocked bars in our bags! They closed the entire clubhouse and locked the doors by 6pm on a Friday night. Can't figure that is good for business, they are throwing money away, we would have spent at least $100 at the bar with food and drinks. Poorly managed, but it is municipal, so go figure. Overall it is a decent course, but I'd be hesitant to pay retail for this course.
Challenging but needs tlc
Love this design. Challenging and scenic with each hole different. You need to be on your game to score well because it does force you to be creative with your shots and to use all the clubs in your bag. A great property
3 problems however...pace of play, greens and bunkers. We play here at least once a month and have yet to do so in 4 hours. ( We are accustomed to playing elsewhere at less than that.) So playing here is akin to watching grass grow. Which is a perfect lead in to the green conditions...they need to be cut. Long, slow, riddled with ball marks. Bunkers are hard packed and loaded with footprints. They need to be groomed on a regular basis to fluff up the sand. Too many othe nice courses in the area to have to pay above average prices for poor contitioning and pace of play.
Great course
Great course to play at well maintained, challenging, and great price for twilight after 2pm
Course in great shape
Played Sunday morning in under 4 hours. Course in really good condition after our rainy August.
greens were not good
course has a beautiful layout, fairways are nice but the greens were horrible
Excellent track
Fun course, love the back nine, quite reasonable greens fees.
One of my favorite courses in the area
I really like Foxford Hills. The layout is great and it's generally in very good shape. This round, the greens were really slow and rough. Hopefully, it was just due to the heavy rain we got a few days ago.
Foxford Hills is definitely a course to put into your rotation.
Note: I always walk Foxford Hills, but it's a pretty difficult hike.
nice course......but
Course was in excellent condition but the greens were EXTREMELY slow and for the course considering itself as one of the higher end courses, judged by their rates, they don't even offer GPS which is a very valuable tool for us average golfers making the game more enjoyable.
Kick around Muni
We played here mid-afternoon. The course is interesting, and offers some challenging holes. The greens are undulating, and relatively large. However, I found the course, especially the greens, to be in poor condition. The greens have an odd look to them that I haven't seen anywhere else in the Chicagoland area. They were very soft, due to some recent rain. We kept pace amongst some slower foursomes by cleaning up ball marks, perhaps a dozen per hole. They were so obvious, and fresh, I just had to figure the clientele either doesn't notice, or doesn't care to clean them up. This isn't the superintendent's fault. However, the greens were very inconsistent, and there were so many marks, bumps, debris, etc... It made the greens very difficult. With the undulating greens, the condition is very important, and anything beyond 5 feet is just a lucky guess of bumps and quirks, much less the break. If you are a generous gimme putter, and birdie putt is something you only see on TV,, this place is pretty cheap and it works. Otherwise, there are other places to be had for the same price, or a bit more that will be much more rewarding.
Greens Poor
I think they should spend more time improving the condition of the greens. They definitely need to be rolled repeatedly. They are really bumpy and seem to be in poor condition. On a Sunday Morning at 7:30, they should be this bad.
This will chase away good players.
fix your ball marks
Foxford is a great track that could be outstanding if people would fix their ball marks. This is the problem with many of the public park district courses. People just don't care.
Surprised
This one of my favorite courses. Very surprised at how bad the greens were, they are one of the worst I have ever played. The bunkers were also very inconsistent some had real nice sand and others were real hard. Back to the greens it is obvious that no one is fixing ball marks and they were very slow sad to see this happen to one of the great layouts in Illinois.
Foxford Hills Putting
I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice track Foxford Hills is as I played it twice in 72 hours. A very nice rolling terrain with various T boxes to suit your game. The only disturbing factor was the greens. You would think that golfers who put down a decent amount of coin would repair their ball marks. The greens were atrocious. Signs are everywhere to encourage repair so they know it is a problem. Course management will either need to have the staff repair the greens or I predict it will impact future play.
Sunday pace on a Thursday
I really like this course. What I didn't like was that there were 2 AND 3 groups waiting on the tee box almost every hole. There wasn't one single range one the course to keep pace of play. I had to call the pro shop on the 7th hole to express our dissatisfaction with what was going on. Finally someone came out and they told the groups in front of us to speed up. What made it more frustrating was that they were all threesomes. We finished our round under the 5 hour round by 7 mins.
Fun Challange
Great weather made this a perfect round. We played in 4:25. 2 groups in front of us were a bit slow but the pace was quick enough to not worry about it. Course was in good shape.
Great course
I highly recommend this course. It's challenging, but fair. It's a beautiful course to play. The greens putt well, but have too many unrepaired divots.
Love the course greens are a little rough
I absolutely love the course layout and undulating fairways and greens.
Many greens a little spotty meaning bare spots.
We hit a wall on the back around 14 in terms of speed of play.
I could play here every day.
Foxford in nice shape
Greens were a tad bumpy but had good speed. Rough was very long due to all the recent rains. Foxford is always worth a play a couple of times a year....a very fun and interesting track with some very large greens and good challenges. We had a nice day.....would not pay more than $40 max to play here so seek out a hot deal! Golfvisions has done a nice job maintaining this course...lots of sand traps to keep smooth..
Foxford Hills 2014
Course was in great shape, except for one green that had some winter damage. It was the weekend of the 4th of July and the pace of play was slow (5 hours). This was the first time I had experienced play so slow at this course. There was a 2 some that was just killing the pace and no ranger asked them to pick it up.
The only other item I noticed were the greens were a little bit slower this year. I recommend this course every time the topic of courses that are a top value comes up.
Great Value
Excellent course, good challenge and has enough tee boxes for beginners as well as advanced golfers. That helps to keep a good pace.
