Great course but slow play
Great course, design and interesting. However, often times play can get backed up, need rangers to push players better
Great course
Overall great! Lots of people not repairing divots on the greens.
Foxford Hills Review
Great course. Greens were in rather rough shape. Nobody repair their divots anymore there days. We finished at 6:15 on a Saturday and the bar and inside was already closed which was disappointing.
Horrible starter
When it was our tee time, the atarter ranger allowed 5 people to go ahead of us. We had theee players and when we asked about how he can allow five people to play, he said it is his choice to do so. The whole time we were playing, the starter kept bothering us and telling us that we were playing too fast. Of course it feels like we were playing fast if you allow 5 people playing ahead of us. We did not want to bother the people ahead of us so we had skipped a couple of holes. How is that fair to us! We strongly believe that he took some compensation from the group of 5 to allow such a thing. He ruined our whole golf playing experience. We normally like playing at this golf course but this particular starter needs to be repremended or fired foe this behavior!!!!
Hidden gem
Don't know why we never played this course before. It is a very playable course. Staff was very friendly. The course was in good condition. Pace of play was great. A few holes you have to play strategically. The greens are large . I will definitely come back.
It is fairly priced.
Challenging Course
Very attractive course design with lots of elevation change Especially compared to other northeastern Illinois courses. It feels more like a Wisconsin or Michigan course on any holes due to the rolling Hills. In great shape other than the greens, the greens had been punched a week or two ago, they are largely better now, but can still be bumpy in places. We had rain on and off, the bunkers were slightly inconsistent with some being smooth and some being rocky. Otherwise, great challenge, appealing course design, and the deal time was great. It is a bit further out than we normally drive, but nothing crazy. Rough is in good shape, not too long, but can be very challenging as the grass is thick and can catch your club on chips if you are down grain. Great local course in the Chicagoland area and would definitely return. All staff we encountered were very welcoming and friendly.
Can’t go wrong
One of if not the best course in the area, lush from tee to green, great challenging holes. 15 and 16 are the post peaceful golf holes you would fine.
Great Deal on GolfNow, but otherwise too pricey
If you diligently watch GolfNow you can score a good deal to golf here. Personally, I don't pay the normal rate because there are too many very good courses within 10 miles. That being said, the fairways are generous, they greens are very challenging, the overall layout and the views are outstanding (on every hole). Negatives: common fairway landing spots have a lot of divets, need for greens to be repaired from ball marks, pump out the sandtraps (lost 2) because of deep/muddy water, and fairway repair mixture was almost empty. Finally, the parking spot markings are really tight. When they are re-done, should be wider.
Thank you for your review. What you fail to mention about the course conditions on the day that you played is that you were playing golf at an open golf course while other courses were closed in the marketplace due to weather that affected the entire Chicago area multiple days which included flooding rains, wind damage and tornadoes. 16 tornadoes to be exact, confirmed by the National Weather Service as I write. Your review, failed to mention that.
You also failed to mention you were playing golf at our too pricey facility while other local courses in the area were closed. We had 200 plus happy golfers that got to play golf and got to use carts. We made their day and accommodated many golfers that wouldn't have gotten to play golf that day. You may ask - why did that happen? It happened because the operation and maintenance staff was diligent starting at 4:00 AM getting the course ready for play and moving flooding waters off of playing surfaces, cleaning up tree limbs and branches so you could play golf and take a cart. YOUR WELCOME!
As far as divots and ball marks - here is a friendly suggestion, fix your own divots and ball marks on the course and you'll be a step ahead of many golfers who basically have no golf etiquette or refuse to bend over and fix their divots and ball marks but yet complain if it affects their perception of how golf courses are maintained. Perception and reality are two different things, but that is hard to learn when golfers should actually blame other golfers ahead of them for not fixing their ball marks and replacing their divots. It's called stewardship of the game.
As far as the parking lot spaces in the lot, they are the required length and width and have been the same since 2002.
Thank you for your feed-back.
