A hot day at the Rookery

We have played this course once or twice a year for the last five years. I have to say today was the finest condition I’ve ever witnessed. This course gets a lot of play and yet the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Also nice to see the extra touches with the landscaping around the course. The pace of play although not fast was acceptable. Al in all a very enjoyable round.

108 heat, beautiful course

Wife and I played this course while visiting the area. It was 108 degrees and hottest round in a long time.

That aside, this course was an absolute joy to play. Tee to greens, it was in great shape. It’s a fun course with a little trouble but definitely a course you can go after a lot of shots and score well. Front 9 has two drivable par 4’s if you don’t mind a little risk and were so such fun to play. I played the back tees and it was challenging in places and the wife played the front tees and she scored really well.

Overall a great course and would definitely play it again if in the area.

Play this course when I am in town. There is no lack of great courses in the area but peak season those run in the $200 plus price range. The Rook is well maintained, greens are consistent, holes are plenty challenging. Seems to have an active membership which helps with maintaining greens; higher proportion of players repair their ballmarks compared to other public courses.
