Continental - thoroughly recommended
We enjoyed another round at this very attractive course, although on the day we played the greens had all been treated and were covered in sand. The condition of the course continues to improve, and it is a very attractive layout for all abilities.
A great course in good condition.
Enjoyed a successful return visit to this course. An excellent layout, enhanced by the recent removal of many trees, a warm welcome from the golf staff helped to raise our enjoyment.
Great Greens
I hadn't played CCC for quite a while so when I got a good rate on GolfNow I bit...and was pleasantly surprised. The greens were excellent...fast, smooth and true. I had "0" 3-putts! The fairways need some work. The grass is thin in most places and hole #4 is still (and will probably always be) cart path only due to excess moisture. But that problem on #12 seems to have been fixed whereas last time I played it too was too wet to drive on. There are some tough holes due to length (#16 and #18 specifically) and there are some short holes where you can hit fairway wood or hybrid. So you can use every club in the bag. I've always liked this layout and the staff is working hard to improve the course...and it shows.
Very average lower-midrange course.
I gave this course overall average ratings because that's all it is. I must say the greens were in good playable condition and the tee areas were okay however there was no discernable difference between the rough and the fairways. For whatever reason it appears the fairways were not over-seeded for this winter's play. The grass that was there was sparse and the ground was almost hardpan throughout the 18 holes. Made for long rollouts which some people might deem favourable however not the easiest to hit approach to green shots. Probably acceptable conditions for higher handicap players but not for lower handicappers.
Accommodating staff and wonderful conditions
This was our first time play Continental CC, when we got there, we started off the back 9 while they had a tournament off the front, my buddy and I just went out as a two some and the conditions were perfect. After finishing the back we were told we had to let a few more groups of the tournament finish. We didn’t mind but after 30 mins we just played the back again, which was wide open. Well worth the price we paid. Can’t wait to play again!
Poor conditions in Fairways and greens, more often little or no grass conditions very unpredictable
Golf Course should pay players to play Course. Worst conditions in all of Orlando area.
Course in Need of Assistance!
We arrived ahead of what we thought was our 12:34 p.m. tee off time only to be informed (quite nicely I might add) that it was a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. We had an hour and a half wait. Beware that this is how this course sets up their tee off times!
Prior to proceeding out on the course for the shotgun start, we were informed via PA that 5 of the holes were cart path only as they were still very wet from being submerged. Once out on the fairways, it was very difficult to distinguish where exactly they were as they were coated in what appeared to be moss strewn about. Many of the fairways were hard to distinguish as they bore more of a sand trap look.
Please note that we had read a posted memo to residents that clean up volunteers were needed to assist with course cleanup. I do not know if a lot of this was Hurricane Irma remains or not....
However, we stayed on afterward to enjoy a very cold pitcher of beer which tasted phenomenal! The bar service was fantastic! Great staff!
comparable to The Villages
For this time of year (February), Continental was close to some of the nearby courses in The Villages. Greens were faster but more filled in. Fairways were about the same: very short grass with tight lies almost everywhere. Good value here.
Rain
We just got to play 9 holes had to stop course to wet.
Need to find out how to get rain check for 9 hole
Course had suffered damage from recent hurricane , lots of trees were lost. Several holes were wet that made ball roll difficult.
Needs Work
Shot gun start was good and play moved at a good pace. Course paths needs lots of work and faiwsys look like they are working on improving.
Glad We Played
A friend and I had a 12:30 tee time that was changed to a 1:00 shotgun start when we arrived at the course. Seems like Golfnow.com has had this mix-up before. Course was in decent shape but a lot of construction in areas, especially on cart paths. Greens and tee boxes were good, fairways ok. Teamed up with a nice couple who were also perplexed about the start, but we all had a nice time.
Course layout is good. Greens were in very good shape. Most of the fairways were in bad shape. Very little to no grass.
Decent course, long day.
If your a Golf Now person expect the staff to bounce you around to fit you in. Ii had to wait 2 hrs. to play because of a shotgun start. Golf Now has it printed in very small letters so beware.
