Golfer Reviews
Less expensive but...
The course punched both fairways and greens last week. I had played my usual Saturday round there and the greens seemed in pretty good condition. Over the next couple of days the fairways in particular got worse as the dirt clods from the punch dried in the sun. So, even though we could ride on the drier fairways, the amount of release on a drive was about the same as when the fairway was wet. Either collect the clods, and use them as fill in the many low areas that are constantly wet, or mow and break them up. Hopefully in another couple of weeks things will be back to normal.
Since I only play weekdays when there are holidays I also discovered that the grill is closed on Mondays (and Tuesday/Wednesday even on holidays) until the snowbirds return (the community is about half empty.
Usually the pace of play here is good. Most Saturday mornings we finish around 3 and 1/2 hours. Teeing off at almost 10 on a Monday I expected about the same. But, the twosome in front of us, was stuck behind the foursome in front of them, so we all ground around at the pace of the foursome (which wasn't bad at about 4 hours 20 minutes really, but seemed worse given the waiting our threesome was doing). Again by late October when these will all be foursomes things should even out, although the prices will be higher.
Too much walking
Too much walking for seniors. Had to quit after 15 holes. Exhausted in hot weather. Carts shut down too soon as approaching greens.
Very nice
Of course she’s in OK condition. The best part is that there was nobody there. It was like our own private club.
good layout
Course was in better shape than some reviews suggested though greens were very slow. Course plays longer than scorecard distances partly because there's little roll in the fairways. Layout itself is very good. My biggest complaint is allowing players to start on back 9. I was first one off and when I get to 10th there were 3 groups ahead of me that did not start on 1. However, those groups were nice enough to allow me to play through. For the price I would recommend this course.
Nice course in good condition. Plays pretty long. Staff was great and amenities are also outstanding. Would recommend to others but not so much in the dead of summer. It was oppressively hot!
Slow greens but friendly employees !
greens are very slow. The course played longer than we expected from the blue tees. The layout was fine. 2 of us played it in 3 hours.
Great place to play
Except, three men with a total of 236 years should not be playing golf when it's 95+ degrees. Even with the occasional cloud and slight breeze, we walked off after 13 holes. We had had enough. BUT! We will be back, when it's a bit cooler. maybe 85 degrees, cloudy and breezy. Love Cypresswood and all the people who keep it GREAT!
Winter Haven local golf course
Generally a good experience recognizing quality of fairways and greens isn’t fabulous. Some dead spots but still for the golfer on a budget it’s well worth it.
Beware large groups!
Played the first nine as a single. Ran up against a group of 7 at the 10th hole, 3 at 10 and 4 at 11. They wouldn't let me play through. Said they were doing a "tournament style" group. I told them I was a single and they said, "Well you're in for a long day then." REALLY. Went back to the clubhouse and mentioned this to the woman at the desk. She said yeah, they play that way every Wednesday and basically tough cookies. I won't be back.
