Knollwood Golf Club - New
About
There are two courses at the Knollwood Golf Club, the New and the Old. The New Course, which is adjacent to the Old, was built almost 20 years after the original. It is the trickier layout of the two. Although the scenic landscape was already dotted with trees, thousands more were planted to create a more challenging golf course and to enhance the beautiful terrain. The layout features plenty of elevation changes throughout and there are elevated tees where golfers can take in pleasant views. The architect of the New Course, Jack Harris, employed his memories of the most interesting holes he had played around the world to recreate some of them on this course.

Knollwood is a terrific course which is greatly under appreciated in our market.
Knollwood Golf Club, New course, is a terrific course. Since there are so many courses in our market, it seems Knollwood does not get the credit it deserves. It is a very well maintained, challenging course, yet very playable for beginners as well.
knowlwood "new'
COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, WAS VERY CHALLENGING.THE PACE OF PLAY WAS STEADY.HAD A GREAT DAY AND THE RATE WAS GREAT
Paul's review
Pace of play was great. Course was in good condition. The only thing not to like is the 17th and 18th greens which are reminiscent of a crazy mini putt course. Other than that a very fun course to play.
Very tired course.
I have not played here in 2 years, as the condition of the course was very poor...mainly due to dry weather that year and the fairways and tee blocks where hard clay. I thought given the amount of rain that we have had this year, that the course would have been different. Well. I was wrong. Tee blocks are hard as rock! Fairways are like concrete. The 6th green has grass longer than the fairway, and is concrete in some areas. Most greens where ok... But there was a lot of dead spots on the greens. Bunkers...never saw any, so no complaint there. For the most part it was like golfing through a cow pasture if you ask me. I will not be back again. Very poor value for the money.
not crowded
staff very friendly we arrived early and were started early the only complaint is that some of the greens were in rough shape.Otherwise great day with friends.
not great course conditions
greens still varied in speed ,one was quite poor.Trees were overgrwn on some holes on front nine blocking entance to holes. Ok for $20 or under
this course has a great mixture of par 5 and 3's
Challenging course. The course was very scenic. The only issue was the green on the 6th whole was NOT a green (taller grass then a normal green, lots of brown patches) the food was exxellent. Freshburger and hand cut fries and fresh sandwiches made to order. Price of golf was reasonable. Would go back for sure.
Average course
Played the New Course, and have played this course before but not for quite a while. Do not remember the greens, tee blocks etc. being in such bad shape. Glad we got a real deal through golf now. Would not want to have paid full price. Seems like they have a fair number of members and seeing they already have their money, they don't worry about the course conditions. We have had great weather here with a good mix of sun and rain therefore the course should look a lot better than it does.
great pace of play
2 players and we got through in just over 3 hours.the course is in pretty good shape but the greens need HELP
Better tracks out there
Green fees are a little much for greens that are slow. Pin placements were brutal for a weekend where there is a lot of traffic. It's a $35 green fee golf course charging $50 (walking) on weekends. Enjoy hole #3 (New)
Pleasant Surprise
I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the course was. It is very unique cutting through the forest with some challenging holes. Course condition was good and am looking forward to returning.
Good Day a the course
Played new course, playing conditions were good a couple of greens still not that good from bad winter but overall well maintained. I feel Full price high for this course but with coupon deals including cart its worth playing
a tricked up course
well we were looking forward to playing the course - heard it was a nice test my partner and i are both mid 80's players - the opening two holes were great an uphill par 4 and a nice gslight dogleg par 5 but thats where it ends after the that the next 16 holes had numerous 'blind' tee shots - with several holes having tress blocking the approach shots to greens - and wth trees that close - the greens were in rough shape - on several holes the greens actually ran away from you and 3 of them a hazard was over the green!! - we also noticed the 100-150 and 200 yard markers were not even close to being accurate leading to several shots flying over the green - the weirdest hole the par 5 17 th bind tee shot as well as second to a 60 yard long green that drops 25 feet front to back -- a totally tricked up hole --- so i guess as my partner jim said - all its missing on the 18th was an elephant with a swinging trunk'! - it mimicked a fine mini putt course!
Terrific Day
Arrived got out a couple of minutes early. Staff very friendly. Cart worked terrific, I didn't! Greens had some winter damage. Grass cut nicely. Weren't too badly rushed. Saw marshalls a couple of times. Definately worth the money.
terrible greens
i'm a somewhat decent golfer. all my approach shots to the green didn't matter as they would rocket off the green as if hitting cement, also kicking up a cloud of sand.... ON THE GREENS.. not from surrounding bunkers but under the grass
Great bang for your buck
Nice challenging little course. Course is short but once you get to the greens good luck as they are very undulated & quite challenging. It's one of the best bang for your bucks out there.
Pro Shop
Found the staff in the Pro Shop to be rude and unfriendly.
Knollwood New
A bit nicer than the Old. Lots of blind shots. Greens did not hold and putted bumpy. Need to know where to place ball on fairways prior to playing. Course knowledge is very important. Pace of play was slow as there was a 5-some in front of us for a while. We were a 2-some.
average
The tees were hard making setting a tee in the ground difficult. The fairways and greens had bare patches. Good course but needs some TLC.
Had a great time!
Friendly people and a nice course overall! We found it to be challenging because it was a long course with many par 4s and 5s. But that is a good thing! Unfortunately we did not get to dine due to a wedding function, but next time for sure!
Right on in your comments.
