Knollwood Golf Club - New
About
There are two courses at the Knollwood Golf Club, the New and the Old. The New Course, which is adjacent to the Old, was built almost 20 years after the original. It is the trickier layout of the two. Although the scenic landscape was already dotted with trees, thousands more were planted to create a more challenging golf course and to enhance the beautiful terrain. The layout features plenty of elevation changes throughout and there are elevated tees where golfers can take in pleasant views. The architect of the New Course, Jack Harris, employed his memories of the most interesting holes he had played around the world to recreate some of them on this course.

Worst course I have ever played.
All members of our party agreed
Greens were like most courses fairways (at best)
Fairways were hard and burnt out
Tee Boxes were worst than my neighbors back yard
Played with a CPGA pro who was so disgusted (even though he paid the $73.00) that he left after 9 holes.
Charging that kind of money for that course is a crime
Not that it matters to the course, but we will never go back and certainly will never recommend it to our friends.
Far Better Courses to Play in the Hammer
Disappointing experience here. The course was in poor shape with the greens being particularly rough - very patchy and carpet-like. The layout already is rather poor, but the conditions made it unpleasant. There were some nice holes that redeemed the experience somewhat, but unless there is a smoking deal on (sub $30 for 18), I would be remiss to return.
Condition
This course needs lots of work
Tees, greens are poor to fair.
No sand traps.
Poor cart paths.
Fairways were OK but I would not play there again - others in our group felt the same.
No Amenities at New Course
Restaurant not open. No beverage cart person. Greens spotty, some with sand on them. Won't go back this season although fairways excellent, rough very playable and power cart price most reasonable in the area.
I was very disappointed in the condition of the golf course I have golf at Knollwood many many times
I found the Teebox weren’t even in place the Tees are in bad condition and so are 75% of the greens.
The greens are not properly cut they’re very slow and poor condition
Poor Condition
Tee blocks are not well maintained, greens on front 9 were in very poor condition. Back 9 were better but have not been cut.
Very Poor Greens
Nice course but most of the greens were terrible. They had put some kind of sand on many greens which totally slowed down the ball. Most greens were dry and the ball created dust when it was rolling. Very patchy I would call most of the greens "browns"
Not in good condition
The greens were hairy making it very hard to get any read on a putt. About half the greens were full of bare spots with no grass. Half the tee blocks were the same. Fairways were in great shape though. For the price we paid with cart (75) I was hoping for better conditions. Probably won't be back soon.
Greens and Shaggy and Patchy
I've been playing Knollwood for several years now and this is probably the roughest I have ever seen the greens on the new course. They are shaggy and patchy and are showing damage from poor air circulation.
Not great
First time playing this course. Wasn’t a fan at all. The layout had way too many doglegs but also some great par 3’s and par 5’s. The worst part was definitely the conditions of the greens and tee boxes on the front. Teeing off on mud and sand on some holes and putting on sand as well. Speed of the greens were also very slow which is too bad cuz some of the greens had some fun-looking undulations, which didn’t matter because you power through all of them anyway.
We paid $54 which seems reasonable until you compare it to a place like Carlisle which is also in the $50-60 range and I would pick Carlisle every time.
Hot
Course is taking a beating due to the drought. But for 32 dollars great deal. Not a bad walking course but in the heat your gonna be exhausted
Great bang for your buck
Great rates, love the 36 layout, updated clubhouses are a bonus,
38$ for cart rental is just absurd.
Overall great day
Not bad during COVID days
Wish they had the T box marked. We were Teeing off from anywhere.
Staff were friendly.
Lack of Tee Blocks is Sad
Played Sunday morning. No pace issues. Course was in relatively good shape, just a few ugly spots. Drainage at the course is an issue.
No tee blocks which is really pathetic. It’s takes one person 30 min to put them out. It’s not hard.
A few tee boxes had no grass. You were hitting off mud.
Course is tight. No flat greens and so it’s a good challenge, but you can also go low if you stay straight. Breaking 80 is very doable.
For $55 it’s a good value. Really a bare bones operation. 1 starter, 1 in store “happy” girl, 1 grounds keeper, and 1 parking lot attendant.
For a cheap round and a confidence boost, its great.
