Golfer Reviews
Hidden Gem
This is course is fantastic and a great challenge for the avid golfer. I was very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it really was. The clubhouse left lots to be desired, but that’s not what important to me. Can’t wait to go back and play that par 6 again!
Good course. No amenities.
Staff was indifferent. Not one greeted me when I arrived or directed me. Course is good. Lots of forced carries. Play the right tees for your distance. From the 6000 yard Silver tees, I’m a 7 handicap who hits his drive around 220 and I struggled to make the fairways across the ravines on a few holes. The par 6 is a terrible golf hole. Long forced carry then an impossible second forced carry so a layup before the layup is needed. For $60 the course was good value but a trailer for a clubhouse and ride staff did not add to the experience.
great golf
great course for experienced players. made some improvements since I last played it. well worth the fee..
A good day
Driving up had the feel of a high end course and other than the clubhouse (lack thereof) it delivered. We were advised it would be a slow day but made the loop in 4:30 even though we waited on almost every hole. Tees, fairways were great. Greens true although lots of ball marks. Only iffy hole was 2 which was a bit soggy. Played the gold tees and enjoyed the layout. Every club in the bag saw some action. Definitely need some local knowledge on a few holes but most are what you see. Could use more marshals to keep the slower groups moving and the idiots that lack etiquette at bay. Play it forward would help too.
Can’t wait to go back
Probably top 5 courses if not better within the area. Challenging course but a lot of fun. If you’re just looking to play a round at a good course, go here. Amenities aren’t the best but I could care less. Just a beauty track!
Great course
First time playing course . Layout was awesome. Hole 9 and 10 one of hardest holes I’ve ever played. If clubhouse was not a trailer course would be amazing.
Worth the drive out to the country
Some long carries and local course management knowledge will help deal with naturalized hazard areas down in valleys. One hole plays to par 6 as you need to place your drive, lay up to second hazard, play to landing area, use wedge to clear 3rd hazard onto green.
Course was in excellent condition. Course marshalls came by a few times to check we found pace of play ok and how we were liking the course. No beverage cart this day, and it was HOT. Clubhouse pro shop is basically a large trailer where you check in and get scorecard, water, food.
I'll be back
Very challenging golf course. In very good condition.
Test your shotmaking
While not what it was 3-4 years ago, Mystic still can force the best from your game. Holes 9 & 10 into a two club wind will test your medal. The course was very damp from the downpour the night before, but very playable with receptive greens.
The Mystic Beast
Long, hard, and a shot makers course. Need every shot in the bag to play here. Greens are fierce but true. Other than 9 and 10 the course is great. These 2 are a bit of a circus.
Continuing to lose its teeth
What used to be a gem of a challenge is slowly becoming average. Management seems determined to have this become 'just another golf course'. So sad to see what was a truly demanding test of golf fall so much. Introduce new tee decks and educate folks at the start to play the correct ones for their game. They will enjoy it more and you can leave the trees and bunkers alone. Yes I know bunkers are expensive to maintain (Lionhead has filled in several) but how bland are you going to make this before you stop tinkering?
Perfect day
The course was in excellent shape. fairways and greens were well cut and manicured. 1 green had been airrated. Pace of play was very good. Excellent price for the quality of course. I would play again in a heart beat.
Mystic long ride
Make sure you get your gps and course guide tuned up cause you are going to need it...first time playing resulted in a lot of yardage i don't knows...pretty wet but greens still rolled good, long tee shots required from golds
Mystic morning
Great day on the course very challenging if you played the 9th hole and struggled wait till you get to the tenth wow one two punch can destroy your round or make you feel like you should be on TV
Good round
Overall, course conditions were very good. It was great to see that bunkers have been filled with sand which was hardly the case in prior years. Starter was very friendly and accommodating. Always enjoy playing here.
You left the same review of the golf course last year. Same time. No bunkers have been touched and no trees have been removed aside from dead or dangerous ones. The golf course plays very much the same as the day it opened. Literally nothing has changed since you wrote your 'white bread' review last year. Give it up.
