Big hitters will reap the benifits!
Pace of play was amazing, did not wait for one shot all morning! The grounds are in impeccable shape even with the lack of rain we've had. This course is a real tough one though, tons of forced carries throughout the track, along with many blind tee shots. If you struggle to break 100 on an average day, don't waste your time here.
Tough But Fun to Play
Glad to see that bunkers are in better shape than when I played there last year. Greens and fairways were in good shape despite the recent dry, hot weather.
Been in better shape in the past
Tees were pretty in bad shape, greens had some trouble as well. Layout is challenging no doubt, with some really fun carries off tee and many blind tee shots. It's a shame this course is in the middle of nowhere because it doesn't seem to have much traffic. Maybe 12 groups on course. Fun day was had though
I'm not sure you're talking about the golf course you think you are... if by 'rough shape' you mean there are some brown spots on the edges of tees and greens because we are in a drought then yes, if by middle of nowhere you mean less than 1 minute from 403, then yes we are in the middle of nowhere. Aswell the golf course puts out over 200 rounds every single day, contrary to your thoughts of not being busy. Hope you can come out soon and review us more realistically
Amazing course!
This course is an absolute beauty. Every hole is unique and very well designed. The Par 6 is fun although not very traditional. They need a beverage cart!!
Surprising and Enjoyable
Played Mystic for the first time today... Was really surprised with the course conditions and layout. Definitely a challenging but attainable golf course. Fairways were very green and in excellent condition, just wish I could have been on them more. Greens were also in good condition and the day was great. Pace of play was really good, and marshals were out to make sure people were keeping things moving.
My only critique is the lack of refreshments on the course. Alcohol aside, it would have been nice to have the option to buy a water in a location other than the clubhouse. Sometimes you just want to keep moving after the 9th hole and not slow down.
But a really cool course layout with some tough tee shots and doglegs. If you miss your drive area, you may be left with quite a bit of blind shots to the green. Had to use every club in the bag to get through the round.
For the price that we paid, Id definitely come back and try this course again.
recommend they revise the gold/silver combo
The score card gold/silver combo has been created with no thought. Instead of their combo, I played a 6406 yd combo of my own and found the course much more playable. Especially for a senior that cannot drive it beyond 250 yds.
Very nice conditions
Very nice fairways and greens. Greens were fairly fast, running around 10.5 . Nice condition too...except for the inevitable unrepaired ball marks no fault of the course.
As usual (in Canada), there are no water facilities anywhere, scattered portapotties. No beverage cart...bring all your own. But nice layout. Multiple forced carries so be warned. No open spots ahead or behind, some minor waiting, 4.5 hour weekday round.
Ok
I like the challenge of this course but for the fees I expect GPS on the carts. I think that it is understaffed wrt greens keepers but they sure work hard to keep things I decent shape.
Impressive
Wow! Haven't played the course in 10 years and now sorry I haven't. First let me say the clubhouse is still a trailer and the washroom resembled a port a potty. The driving range needs a makeover, and a cart person would be highly recommended. However the rest if the review is very positive. The course was in exceptional condition except for some overused tees( silver) and poorly drained bunkers. Visually, the course is stunning. The fairways were immaculate, and the greens expansive and undulating, and great to putt. A power cart is mandatory and needed, and the cart paths are well paved. I highly recommend you play the tees that suit your handicap because of some expansive carries over many gullies, and in those and in the woods...forget about finding your ball. The red hazard stakes are plentiful. great track, but don'y set your expectations too high,at least the first time.
One who plays daily
The course was cart path only and did not allow walking. The course layout does not cater to cart path only as many of the holes are very wide fairways and ravines. I would check before booking if cart path or not. Waste of money renting a cart.
We always allow walking when it is cart path only.
#10
They have made #10 a par 6 instead of placing the tee box on the other side of the ravine. This hole is in bad need of a fix as it is poorly designed and making it a par 6 dies nothing to improve it.
Loving mystic
Always treated good here, i take advantage of the junior giolfer deal for my son and am always treated first class in the clubhouse.
The course is like no other in the area, it's like a PGA tour track!
Beautiful But Challenging
Take in the beauty of the course as it can sneak up and grab you if you make mistakes. From the golds (blue elsewhere) you need to be able to be a long hitter off the tees. Only negative was the sand as it wasn't plush.
Mystic Gem
Hands down one of the most challenging scenic courses in the area. The layout is really nice with the exception of #10 which seems like it was taken of a PlayStation fantasy course.. they've made it a Par 6 which is wonky but if you can hit 3 perfect shots in a row you are gold.
One of my favorite courses in the area for sure.
Thanks for the good review! Come back soon!
