Strict on cart rule
Even on an extremely slow day they refuse to let walkers on, despite cart path only rules. Golf is a sport and if you are willing and able walking a course should always be an option.
Cart paths only as course was still quite wet from recent rains. Outstanding layout and greens are in great shape. Rough was very long and heavy vis a vis rainy weeks. Fairway cutting is behind the weather effects a bit but mainly in decent shape
Find a way to play this course - take some extra balls of you tend to stray from the straight and narrow.
Enjoyable course.
Wet spring
Great layout. Damp conditions. Greens were good considering . Cart path only. Love this course real championship course.
No Phone Number?!?
Mystic doesn't have a phone number only a number for the corp that owns them and dozens of other courses. It was freezing and miserable and had no way of finding out if the course was closed or if we'd be charged for not showing despite the weather. Had to drive over an hour. Grownup businesses don't hide form their customers.
Great day
I always enjoy playing this course. I’ve played it twice this year staff very friendly course in good shape tee off blocks could use some work but over all I will be back.
Cheers John
Great course!
I haven't played this course in about 5 years. I forgot most of the holes. This course is challenging. You have to keep to the fairways. Lots of trouble on both sides.
One major complaint is that they aerated recently and it was not shown on the site. Please ensure this is rectified.
The cart paths are extremely bumpy and a lot of the entry and exit points are so bad that I thought I was going to leap out of my cart when I hit them. This is a safety hazard.
Otherwise, this course was beatiful to play it. I will need to come out again.
Spend some money
Golf North is terrible at investing money. The drink cart has been broken all year and doesn't get fixed. The bridge on 10 had a huge hole in it and instead of fixing it properly there is just a piece of plywood over it. They ran out of range balls today because they don't have the staff to collect the balls or budget to buy more range balls. You won't see a Marshall so it can get very slow. I waited 10 minutes to check in because no one was in the club house. Eventually Golf North will figure out how to ruin the course as well.
Decent design, uninspiring maintenance & conditions
Like most reviews, the absence of a clubhouse, proper washrooms and a cart/beverage person is well documented. No more needs to be said.
While I thought the layout was pretty decent (a few gimicky holes), the pace of play was ridiculous. 4 hours 40 minutes to play is crazy.. waiting on every shot.
Now, simple things to speed up play.
1. Put fairways stakes in the ground at the 200, 150 and 100 yard marks would help a ton, especially with all the forced carries. Why they don't do this is beyond me... that could easily shave 10 minutes per player just trying to figure out distances
2. Since carts are mandatory, then put in a GPS system.. (see #1 above)
3. The greens were very soft (too much water) and heavily tracked at end of the day. I was told by the marshall they only have a staff of 5 or 6 to maintain the entire golf course.. that's crazy.
4. They have removed a lot of bunkers (sadly) which detract from the visual aspects of some holes.. most likely to speed up play and lower maintenance costs. Sadly, a lot of footprints in bunkers.. come on people.. show some etiquette and rack the bunkers.. can't blame that on the greenskeepers
5. Tees were generally in rough shape (played the Golds)... Silvers looked even worse.
6. Overall, I'm sure this course was once a gem.. but cutting back on maintenance, removing bunkers and some forced carries without any easy identification of yardages made for a long day.. too long..
Need more facilities
The golf game was an excellent experience, however for a great course like this the amenities and facilities are very poor. No cart girl, no ball cleaning station at starter, etc. If they invest a bit in making a good club house and increase the amenities, people can enjoy their visit here.
Go here if you are only interested in a nice round of golf. If you want to spend a great day with friends then this place is a no no.
no cart girl
hey with a good layout of the golf course, we need to have some enjoyment too. no cart girl and no other facility. your layout is fantastic but cant even get a beer in between. that sucks.
Not great
Fairways were aerated which we didn’t know about and we paid full price, no beverage cart, slow pace, won’t be returning - far better value at better courses.
Favourite Course in the Region
I'm a lefty but it really favours my eye. Dog legs are fine for conservative players but also allow for aggressive long drives. Layout is great. Lots of diversity and plenty of hazards but not overly punishing. Was able to use all the clubs in my bag. Only complaint is the first few greens were a little bumpy bu that improved after hole 3 or 4. Can't wait to get back.
Never disappoints
Always enjoy the test at Mystic. Course knowledge is an asset here. Good conditions overall. Good pace for a Friday but it was in the a.m.
Love this course - needs a clubhouse.
Love this course good conditions, tough but if you hit straight and long it’s nice to play. Tenth hole is a killer but a great course overall. Needs a clubhouse and not being able to take the cart to the car is a real pain.
Great layout but greens inconsistent
Can't complain much about a round where you get back to back birdies but a few improvements would improve the experience. Pace of play was hindered by one slow group playing music and drinking course provided beer. Ranger was aware but couldn't get them to speed up so we waited on the tees the whole back 9.
Greens were inconsistently slow and then sometimes quicker but fuzzy in general and bumpy. Made for a difficult time putting.
We had a severe thunderstorm roll through in the morning and were not able to mow the greens, hence the inconsistency, come back soon
This review could not be any more incorrect. Whenever the golf course is cart path only we always allow walkers.
