Still great
This course is even better than than I remembered Been 20 years since I last played here and it has made every improvement needed to make it a really top public course. Highly recommend it
Great course
the course layout is excellent, the green is keep in good condition and challenging. unfortunate to follow 3 groups of slow player, we have to wait for every holes and every shot, took 5 hours to complete the round.
A true tournament layout
This course used to be a qualifying site to obtain your Canadian Tour Card. Fairways perfect, greens quick (not fast) but true. Back tee's are fair but not too long 7,000 yds or so. You can score well if you hit fairways, if you miss fairways you have no chance of playing well (a lot of tree lined fairways). I have played 3 times this season booking on golfnow the after 3pm pricing is a steal at this course. The starter's are awesome and will let you out early if there is room. Highly recommended! You will enjoy it.
Challenging and Rewarding
Found the course to be in great shape and each hole has its own beauty and strategic shots are required to avoid trouble. Lots of water and huge traps. The pin placements were interesting and our round was amazing as we finally broke that heatwave and could enjoy the fresher summer air!!
Royal Ashburn round
Great course, as always. Course is always well manicured, and the staff is courteous. We will always come back to Royal Ashburn. (In fact, my niece is getting married at the course next September).
Worst service
I played here Saturday on the hottest day of the year! We managed to only see the beverage cart once all day on the 10th hole( picked up drinks at the turn, go figure!). It was 43c with the humidity and were told many of times by the pro shop and starter to stay hydrated. Very hard to stay hydrated when the service isn’t there. For a course of this stature to have guests treated so poorly is disappointing to say the least. I was a frequent golfer here yearly but I will not be back after after my last experience. Hope your service will
Improve so other guests don’t experience the same service I had
Love this course!
Very well maintained, scenic course with challenges at practically every hole, Starters wearing kilts and Scottish artifacts along the course made the whole experience worth repeating. We will be back to play this one again :))
Wicked Track
deserving of the Royal designation. It is my second favourite course in the universe. Only best by Crandon Key biscayne
A beautiful but tough course
This is a beautiful golf course and very well maintained. Lots of dog legs and water hazard and demand pretty accurate position. The fairways are very well maintained and the rough is quite thick and dense making finding your balls very difficult. Staff is very polite and friendly. The pace of play is good as the four of us can finish the play around 4 hours. Drinks are always served around the course and you can see the staff driving around the course 4 - 5 times during the play. Very good overall.
Challenging & Picturesque
I have been playing this course for over 45 years and I have yet to conquer it or tire of it. It’s a great test of golf with no quirky holes but it remains tough and fair. It’s an easy walking course with subtle rolling terrain with a creek which meanders throughout the course and comes into play on half the holes. The course is always well-maintained & is very picturesque and the only slight drawback is the average conditions of the bunkers which could use a bit more sand in some bunkers. Over the years though, this course has gotten better with age. Golf fees are comparable with other top courses in the region. The clubhouse facilities are dated but well maintained and the staff & golfing professionals are very friendly and accomodating. To round out your golf experience, Butler’s Grill has top-quality, restaurant-like cuisine and a great golf & dine special every day. A day spent at Royal Ashburn is an enjoyable experience
Great course
Always had fun playing this course. The only thing was the green was a bit slow the last time I played but overall a very positive expeience.
Greens too slow
Staff extremely friendly! Greens were like molasses! Some quirky hole layouts.
Beautiful older tree lined course.
Love this course! Always in great shape.Greens a little slow because it's early in the season. Only complaint is the crusty Marshall telling me to pick up pace when there was no one around, guess he was board.
Fall Play
The course is always in good shape even after the aeration.
Could be much cheaper at that time of the year though.
The day was good and happy there wasn’t much of wind but th brain came and washed us out and we had to stop.
Nice course, better during summer months
Other than the starter putting someone that was late into our teeoff time
(making us late) , and then telling us what tee blocks we should play, the course is certainly worth playing. The fairways, greens, rough and bunkers were all in excellent condition for late Oct. The staff were busy trying to remove the downed leaves to keep it clean.
Best course played in Ontario thus far, reminded me of Carolina golf. Give it a shot, you won't regret it. Lush fairways, perfect greens, 1st cut playable and clean. Just a beauty of a golf course!!!
