Settlers' Ghost Golf Club

About
Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is located just outside of Barrie on what was formerly an important Huron Indian settlement. The golf course is an homage to the former inhabitants of the land, including the Huron Indians and emigrants from the British Isles. The golf course was built to maintain the historical integrity and scenic features of the rustic, rolling landscape. The dramatic elevations throughout the course offer stunning panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and the Georgian Bay. Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is relatively short at 6,311 yards from the back tees, but there are still some lengthy shots that will appeal to long hitters, including the par-5 eighth, which stretches to 539 yards.

Great track, slow greens
For my first time playing this course, I was very impressed with the conditions, pace of play and layout. My vinyl complaint would be the greens were on the slow side for what I’m used to. While they rolled great and true, they were quite slow. Regardless I would play this course again and recommend to anyone.
Just ok
Like others have said, way too many blind tee shots. There’s no “surprise” trouble on the blind shots as long as you keep it down the middle, but not a fan of SO many. Course conditions were, for the most part, very good, except for 1 or 2 greens and 1 very bad tee. The biggest issue wasn’t something that’s the fault of the course — people are apparently incapable of repairing their ball marks on the greens or not dragging their feet. I fixed at least 4 ball marks on every single green and I probably could’ve done 20 if I had the time — just terrible. The other “big” issue I had was the cost — I understand why they charge a premium for single rider carts given the COVID situation, but $44 for green fees, plus $27 for the cart, plus tax?! This is NOT a $70-$80 course; not even remotely close.
Not Worth the $$
Bought a round for 50$. Cart was another 26. Plus the govt fee. All in all just over $86.
Not worth 86. Course is in good shape considering the hot weather. Greens inconsistent with speed.
For $90 you can play North Granite Rodge with a cart at the same time of day.
You can play Bond Head South/North.
Higher end courses for the same price.
Good to see beverage cart on the course. So nice job there. Food after the round was good.
Anmenities difficult obviously with the covid restriction.
But no way should settlers be this expensive.
Great Day of Golf
Overall this course is a must play. It’s laid out nicely for all skill levels and value for the money is quite good. Our one complaint was the group ahead and lack of marshalling. They were slow all back 9 may have been the beer they had on the cart but following 17 while the group of 4 shotgunned two beers each we waited for tee off. I get this is a public course and I will return but I encourage the course to keep an eye on these activities and they were out of control and dangerously wild off the tee.
It was an excellent day. Pace of play was right on time. Staff were freindly. Course was in good shape. Good spacing between golf groups. Teed off at booked time
Nice but didnt appreciate people teeing of 10 and slowing the game
Nice , course , greens were real good. The directional signs from hole to hole were very poor and in 2 instances led us right into other players hitting. extremely disappointed that we played the front 9 in 1 hour and 50 minutes and the back nine in 2 hours and 42 minutes. Groups were filtered into the 10th tee in front of us. Very annoying at many points had 3 and even 4 groups on one hole. For this reason we would not go here again and would recommend friends think about it as well. Way too much money for my wife and i totally $151.00 dollars for 2 with a cart. This type of tactic does not appease golfers who can identify it.
The ghost
Very well thought out course
You need to play it at least twice to get aiming points on the blind shot holes
Great views and elevation changes.
Not overly long but very tight fairways and some small greens make it very challenging.
