Horseshoe Resort - Valley
About
The Valley Course is a heavily forested golf course is the original layout at the club. The course is unique in that it has relatively short yardages rated with such high slopes mainly due to the tight fairways and numerous elevation changes. The driver will most likely stay in your bag while the long irons will be used often. The golf course is very tight, offering an ideal place to get some practice with irons. It is also provides an ideal warm-up round for the more difficult course at the Horseshoe Resort, the Highlands Course.

Poor fairways and greens
The layout was interesting, but the fairways bunkers and greens were in pretty rough condition, but overall it is not an expensive course to play and would be ideally suited for beginners.
Good coarse if you get a deal .
Loved the elevated tee blocks and greens . Cart paths are dirt and a little dusty with a couple carts. Some areas of rough are maintained but staff could do a better job . Greens are basically two out condition as 40-50% was diseased and tough putting conditions.
Was a nice experience, golfing is never bad . Marshals did a good job of ensuring the group ahead of us on an obvious family outing stayed on pace .
It’s worth playing at least once so if you haven’t , check it out and write your review/ experience!!
Poor condition
Lots of bare patches, slow play and no marshall visibility.
it s a shame, beautiful surroundings
Expecting much better from Freed . They know how to create a beautiful golf experience at Muskoka Bay . Unfortunately they haven t spent the $$ to improve this course
Couse is in Bad Shape
Course is in very bad shape! Tee boxes are in terrible shape. Starter failed to inform us there is no green on hole 4 - they put the pit in the rough 🤦♀️ fairways are brutal ! I won’t be back! For the money they charge now it’s sad. Best course up the road Settler’s is in perfect condition !!!
Terrible conditions
Absolutely fantastic layout, extremely poorly maintained and definitely not work the price. They just built the new 9 on the front which is a par 33 and abysmal conditions. Hopefully they put some money into next year, but doubt it.
Golf day
Overall the course was in great shape but a number of greens need a lot of work due to dead zones. Putting was a problem as you ball would bounce in these dead zones. Staff were great, location was excellent. Played with two other golfers and had a good day
A joke of a golf course
What an absolute joke of a golf course. Half the greens looked like they’d been through a forest fire, the fairways were basically patches of dirt, and the rough hasn’t seen a drop of water since the Stone Age. Calling it “playable” is generous — there wasn’t a decent lie anywhere. The bunkers? Don’t even bother calling them bunkers. They were concrete pits you could putt out of. For the price they’re charging, this has to be the biggest rip-off in Ontario golf. I could’ve gone to Settlers’ Ghost for $20 more and actually enjoyed myself, instead of feeling like I just played 18 on a construction site.
Valley course
Many areas need refurbishing t boxes greens and fairways seems that the dry weather caused alot of these issues but still paying $80-$100 a round is not advisable. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
Terrible
Lousy boxes, fairways and the greens we absolutely garbage. Never again
Terrible
T box’s, fairways and greens were in pathetic shape. 25 minutes on the back nine per hole wait time. No Marshals anywhere. We quit after only 14 holes. To finish it would of been a 6 hour round.NEVER AGAIN
Suffering from summer heat
This course spreads out over mountain ridges. In the front flat lands the greens were like carpets. But once on the slopes the course is hurting from the harsh summer heat.
The course is very tight and you better be a good putter as greens have lots of breaks and pulls from the elevation pulls.
Not worth the money
The course is in very poor shape, many greens are virtually unplayable. The fairways are equally in poor shape. We have golfed many local courses that have cheaper green fees but conditions 100 % better. We feel the quality of Horseshoe Valley’s course does not justify the fees they are charging!!! We are very disappointed to play a resort course that is in such poor shape. We feel we should be compensated in some way for the poor conditions at Horseshoe Valley. Historically Horseshoe Valley had a reputation of a beautiful champion course. It certainly doesn’t live up to this now!
