Settlers' Ghost Golf Club

About
Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is located just outside of Barrie on what was formerly an important Huron Indian settlement. The golf course is an homage to the former inhabitants of the land, including the Huron Indians and emigrants from the British Isles. The golf course was built to maintain the historical integrity and scenic features of the rustic, rolling landscape. The dramatic elevations throughout the course offer stunning panoramic views of the Niagara Escarpment and the Georgian Bay. Settler’s Ghost Golf Club is relatively short at 6,311 yards from the back tees, but there are still some lengthy shots that will appeal to long hitters, including the par-5 eighth, which stretches to 539 yards.

Great round opf golf at Settler's Ghost
Got a great rate from Golfnow. Check in with the new COVID rules went well and the staff were very helpful. Starter and Marshal helped with some great tips for the course. Course conditions were excellent on both the fairways and the greens. Best I've seen here. Pace for the round was pretty consistent and we on ly waited 2 or 3 minutes at the most at tees.
Great company great golf, couldn't ask for better.
Wonderful round of golf
Staff upon check-in were very helpful with the new COVID system required. Starter and Marshal were helpful with many pointers. Course was in excellent condition. Greens were not too fast and easier to read.
Overall it was a great day at Settler's Ghost.
Overcharged for cart during pandemic.
Nothing wrong with the course but a big advantage to know where to hit your tee shots. Had quite a few drives that I thought were great only to find the ball in thick rough. Biggest reason for downgrading the rating was because the Pro Shop charged us $30/ cart to ride separately during the pandemic trying to physical distance. Other courses in the area are not doing this. "Gouging "
Extremely Disappointed
We have golfed at Settlers Ghost many times in the past but probably will not return. Very disappointed to learn upon arriving at the course that we each had to pay extra for a cart (social distancing). We don’t feel that this was clearly outlined on the booking page. Settlers Ghost is NOT a $90 per round course. Also, the booking page is awkward at best - I was quite willing to Pre-pay for all 3 rounds when booking for a saving of $5 per round, but was unable to do so. Also, my family had a medical emergency while we were playing and it took 7 calls before any staff member at the course could be contacted to pass on notification to us ( as a courtesy we turn off our cellphones or leave them in our vehicles while golfing). All in all a frustrating, overly expensive experience.
Cool but nice round
Always a pleasure playing a nice round
Staff is really friendly
I would have expected a break on the cost of the cart but I guess covid is driving up costs
Settlers Ghost on a perfect day
We play Settlers Ghost once or twice a year.. It is always in great shape, and is a nice layout that is very playable for less experienced golfers. There are a number of holes that are shorter and generally fairways are pretty wide open. My only complaint is there are a number of blind shots, which can be a safety risk, or just slow play when you aren't sure when it is safe to hit. This was our first time playing Settlers with the Covid protocols in place - everything was well handled, but as with all golf courses now, it was disappointing not to be able to use the full restaurant facilities
Nice Course
The course is in great shape. Some interesting holes for sure. Pace of play was great, as were the staff. This was my second round here this season and will be returning June 11th for a theirs time.
Highly recommend this course
Recommended by friends that enjoyed the course and it exceeded my expectations. Well laid out, scenic, and just challenging enough so it doesn’t beat up a middle handicap (15) player, so as to be enjoyable.
Staff was informative, friendly and knowledgeable in this Covid time. It was my first round of the year in Canada and I felt safe to know that the staff was following all the Covid 19 policies put out by the province. I will definitely return to play soon.
Course in good shape.
Course was in good shape. Charging 30 dollars a cart when people are forced to use individual carts due to covid 19 is a little bit ridiculous though.
Power Cart
Was rather disappointing that deal did not include power cart as has been the case throughout 2019 season. No reason given.
The course is in beautiful shape
The condition of the greens has greatly improved from the last time I played here a few months ago. The course is in beautiful shape.
