Southbrook Golf and Country Club
About
Nestled in the quaint village of Binbrook, Southbrook Golf & Country Club has a charmingly idyllic yet convenient location that is only minutes from the QEW, the 403, and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. The club first opened in 1969 with a nine-hole golf course, which was later expanded to 18 holes in 1972. A renovation of the golf course resulted in a redesign of five holes on the front nine and a new irrigation system. Southbrook Golf & Country Club now plays to a 6,560 yards and its new challenges demand precision and keen course strategy. The meandering Welland river snakes through the golf course as well, coming into play on 13 holes while also enhancing the natural beauty of the course.

More fun than fancy
They were going through a bit of a dry spell and had the sprinklers on at the tee boxes which was inconvenient otherwise nice course and fun play
Yardage just right from the forward tees now!
Before, the newer red forward tees were initiated, I felt Southbrook played too long for the average woman golfer. Now it's just right and still a challenge. The slope and rating are fair as well. The Covid precautions were well done, especially the innovation for retrieving the ball from the hole without touching the flagstick. Tee times were well spaced out. Carts had dividers if two rode together but also ample carts for single riders. Proper spacing was provided in the clubhouse. After round food was delicious on the patio which had just opened for dining with proper spacing. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly.
Consistently Challenging
Interesting course with several twists. Conditions are consistently good, yard markers in place, greens are in good condition.... afternoon fast.
Twilight special
Pretty good experience overall. One issue starting the round - the group ahead of us was pairing 2 twosomes - the one pair decided to not join up thus delaying our tee off by 10 minutes. I guess they decided not to have a starter for the later tee times.
Slow motion
Bad luck being behind a group that fell 3 holes behind the group they were following. The worst part was the speed of the greens were extremely slow.
Great Course, Super Staff.
This is really a nice course. I play all over within my area and among several fine courses, I include Southbrook as one that I enjoy. The course has it's challenges playing 6200 yds from the White tips, for the average golfer this is a fair test of skill. The layout keeps you interested, and both the Proshop and Clubhouse staff are very pleasant. The course is well kept, some tee blocks and bunkers need attention, but this shouldn't detract from a great day. Highly recommend to play Southbrook, you will Not be disappointed.
always fun to play
Got there at 10am and start was delayed cause to the night frost, this caused an unfortunate slow pace of game, but it's October in Canada so it is what it is.
The course is very nice and we'll maintened, very large fairways for beginners, but also a layout that will allow to dare the shot to the players that wants to challenge themselves.
All in you will like spend 3 and 1/2 hours here, better if you can get the 28$ hot deal cart included like I did.
The place also has a driving range and a chipping and putting area.
Only negative thing, there were a lots of leaves around that made me lose some extra minutes to find my ball.
Great day.
This is a fine course to enjoy. You will use all the clubs throughout the course. Excellent staff inside the proshop, clubhouse and starters. Just a great day.
Great Shape
Course in great shape. Greens rolled a little slick and true
Don’t bother
Worst tee box’s I ever seen and pace of play was slow. I played a lot courses in the area and they were all in very good shape with the exception of this one. The greens and fairways were very sandy. Don’t waste your time or hard earned here, they’re some really nice courses in the area for the same money.
Not the same as years prior
My group and I were a little disappointed on the conditions. In years past the course was very nice, excellent conditions etc. We understand there was clearly work being done in areas, however pretty much every tee box was completely chewed up to the point where the driving range area was in better condition than some tee boxes, some of the greens were in poor condition and no beer cart was scene at all during the round.
Course conditions poor
I played this course as a junior. Now, 30 years later - the layout is just as solid as it was but unfortunately the conditions were poor. Tee boxes were rock hard. Fairways were bare in many spots. Rough was ok and greens were ok.
For $70 it was not good value for money. If the conditions were better I’d recommend it for sure.
Hot Deal
The course was worth the 22 dollars each, with cart. It was slow in the heat and humidity.
I was disappointed with the slow speed of the greens. They use to be much quicker.
If you like fast greens like I do, you will be frustrated with the speed of these greens.
Disappointed w/pricing
We golf at Southbrook approx 1 - 2 x per week. We generally find the pricing reasonable.
After looking on Golf Now for times & pricing we called to see if there were earlier times not listed on that site. The gentleman who answered the phone said there wasn’t. I then asked if, since I had him on the phone, we could book the 3:30(ish) time that was listed on Golf Now at the same price as what was advertised. I was informed that they could not match the $47 w/cart)/person price on Golf Now. I hung up and booked through Golf Now. Once at the course we were paired up with a guy who had just showed up, hoping to get in a quick 18 on his way by, but the price he was given was $31 (with a cart).
This is extremely disappointing, especially considering how often we golf at Southbrook and the fact that the course was in pretty rough shape due to the earlier rain and a golf tournament that was there earlier in the day.
