Southbrook Golf and Country Club
About
Nestled in the quaint village of Binbrook, Southbrook Golf & Country Club has a charmingly idyllic yet convenient location that is only minutes from the QEW, the 403, and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. The club first opened in 1969 with a nine-hole golf course, which was later expanded to 18 holes in 1972. A renovation of the golf course resulted in a redesign of five holes on the front nine and a new irrigation system. Southbrook Golf & Country Club now plays to a 6,560 yards and its new challenges demand precision and keen course strategy. The meandering Welland river snakes through the golf course as well, coming into play on 13 holes while also enhancing the natural beauty of the course.

Where is there a Marshall when you need one!
This used to be a nice course to play. The conditions overall were pretty rough. Tee blocks a mess, more weeds than grass on fairways. Greens were good though. Pace of play ridiculous, over 4 and half hours. Over booking by the look of it. Guys waiting on approach shots of 230yds when they can't hit 180. One marshal shows up only to do nothing in terms of solving problems ahead at one point 3 groups on a hole...pro shop guy having to do everything, get carts etc. Check-in was slow but no help for the guy... why do courses now let all these twosome out when they are so busy...never used to allow this....many courses in this vicinity, so have lots of choices, so no reason to return.
poor course
Very slow rate of play, course was bunched up and marshals were no were to be found. 5 1/2 hrs to play 18 holes (that's crazy)
Greens were horrible, not a well maintained course for the money charged, expected more for that price. I doubt I will play there again.
4:10 minute round
We played on a humid afternoon in 4:10 which is excellent for a public course. Greens and fairways were fine but tee boxes could use more work to level them out. Pathways were potholed badly.
A great day for golf
Our day at Southbrook was a bit of an anomaly because it started off as a miserable, rainy Sunday morning in July and by our tee time at 12:30pm, it had turned to a mist, then by the 3rd hole you couldn’t have asked for better weather. So the course was quiet, and the pace was incredibly relaxed. We were a foursome, so throughout the round we gladly let a few singles and twosomes play through to keep an enjoyable pace going for everyone out on the course. Due to the heavy rain early morning until lunchtime, they had likely let their hourly staff such as starters, marshalls and beverage cart employees go home because we didn’t come across any of them the entire round, but they weren’t really required. The pro shop staff were friendly upon checkin and provided the necessary information. The maintenance of the course was great considering we are well into July and likely at peak play right now - very few ball marks to fix outside of our own, and rarely landed in divots on the fairway. The course also seemed to drain quite well given the rain prior to our round (granted it’s been quite dry and it likely soaked in quickly because we’ve been needing it). The only note I would provide for improvement would be that the golf carts, as well as many sand and seed buckets on par 3 tee decks, did not in fact have any sand and seed in them. The price for what you receive at Southbrook is very reasonable. We paid $52 each including tax for 18 holes of golf and cart. Definitely a fair price.
Perfect golf day
It was 28 degrees with no wind, the course is in fine shape. I just wish they'd improve the cart paths.
Tricky blind Shots
The heat has left the tees very hard. Had trouble getting tees in the ground, otherwise enough of a challenge for an intermediate golfer. Some blind shots on the back nine need some distance guidelines or you are in the water.
members aren't always good for a course
thanks to some older inconsiderate members we did not finish our round due to frustration created by the players in front, constantly (as a group) looking for balls, stopping to have group chit-chats and outright ignoring the fact that a twosome was waiting behind them at every tee. I have played here many times, but I don't know if I will go back again
course was great, well taken care of getting a little dry, to be expected staff in pro-shop, marshals on course & in the rest/ bar were great ! going back soon !
Pleasant outing
Very pleasant round at Southbrook. Enough challenge to keep me interested, and the course was in nice shape. Several holes are pretty straight and parallel each other, some with tight fairways. There seems to be a clay base to the course. It had rained two days earlier and there were still a few puddles around, but nothing that hampered play. Might be on the soggy side the day after a good rain.
Good
Nice course.Greens pretty good fairways good.Food excellent.
A truly challenging course
This course requires precise shot making. Too long or too short gets you in trouble in a hurry. It was a bit dry on the greens but otherwise in excellent condition. Putting was a bit slower than a week ago but this made it better as before it was too fast.
this course needs new management
when i got to the course they were already behind a 1/2 hour. They over booked. We had to wait 10 min. on every tee.The weather was 40. It was a 5 & 1/2 hour round. The tees were rock hard.I will never book Southbrook golf course again.
Great course even with the rain
Southbrook is a nice course good layout but course knowledge helps friendly staff will play again
Great staff
Course was in good condition. Staff was great. A++++
