Royal Woodbine Golf Club
About
No challenge was overlooked in this brilliant Michael Hurdzan design. The 76 bunkers and water on every hole will keep your full attention on the game. The rewards are great and Royal Woodbine's beautifully conditioned fairways and greens make this championship course a real pleasure to play. Just minutes from downtown Toronto on the Mimico Creek Valley, this is one of the area's treasures.

Flight path
A great course, although the amount of passenger planes landing at nearby airport was a little distracting
Need to put expensive green fees back into course
Course layout is exactly how I remembered it from last play about 12 years ago which was greally aND wit some challenging holes. Lots of strategy requipped to get around safely. Unfortunately little is being spent on course maintenance. I can understand keeping the greens a little long, due to the recent heat wave however, the grass wasn't manicured at all. Grass and weeds growing in the bunkers. Don't know how because the bunkers were hard a cement. Too bad they don't put their expensive green fees back into course maintenance. Not to mentioned the halfway house closed early leaving us without food. We were told that the cart girl had sandwiches but she didn't.
Hidden Gem
Had a few hours between flights and this was a perfect fit.
Great rates
friendly staff
Course plays very slow..
Especially of the first tee.. A bit pricey too..
Too many golfers looking for lost balls..
The course is pretty scenic but the conditions
are poor..
Play it at least 1x/year
Interesting track. If it weren't for the planes overhead you'd never know you were in the city
Best stop I ever made on the way to the airport
I played on the way out of town on a beautiful, hot day. The staff looked after my luggage, and let me use the locker room to freshen up after I finished. I even got to play with a part time marshal named Sven, who knew the course like the back of his hand. He couldn't cure my nasty pulls, but I appreciated his knowledge. It was my third time playing the course, and the conditions were consistent. The greens were well kept, and the holes were crisply cut. So important for those putts that are fading away from the cup. I love golfing in Canada. I always meet interesting and friendly people, Royal Woodbine was a blast all three times. Thank you.
great challenge
they have to rake those bunkers just terrible for a high end course
Bring lots of balls
This course was not designed well, unless you enjoy losing a lot of balls. Balls driven straight down the fairway, lost in the water. Miss the fairway, lost in the woods. If you can't hit a patch of grass that's 30y by 30y every shot, you will lose a lot of balls. Also, because everyone looses so many balls, the course plays really slow, took over 5 hours to play 18. People are searching for lost balls and wasting a lot of time.
SLOW
Pace of play was extraordinarily slow for a Tuesday morning! We waited on every hole for every shot. There were 2 groups waiting on one tee deck at one point. There were no marshals anywhere to help regulate the pace of play. The halfway hut wasn't open and the refreshment cart met us on the 2nd and 18th hole - NOT HELPFUL when you play an epically long round!
The course itself was in good condition. I've played this course many times before and this experience was sooo bad, I won't likely be back in a long time.
Royal Woodbine
Great course to play for a challenge. Couse was wet from day before rain (cart path only). Play was steady. will play again with friends.
Tight but playable
Good course near the airport. Follows a small drainage, tight driving course, lots of trees and hazards, fun to play layout, greens average size and speed, overall good conditions. Area has had a lot of rain this year so a few boggy spots.
Thank you for the review John! We hope to see you back out on the course soon!
Slowest round ever
Never ended up finishing the last 3 holes. It was 5.5 hours with no end in site. The marshal was nice and friendly but the only excuse for the slow play was they were busy. Won't be playing there again.
We thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback from your last visit with us at Royal Woodbine. We apologize for the slow play and we will use your feedback to make improvements moving forward!
Challenging course close to city (actually in city westend)
Course for the most part is narrow, up 1 side of Humber River tributary & back down the other side, so lots of water involved , very pretty course & you would think you were much further north in country except for low flying jets landing at Pearson, this is only really a distraction on the start & finish of your round! (not too much though) The course itself requires accuracy & can be unforgiving. Very good mix of holes , hazards, whether part 3,4,5 part. The bunkers (sand ) are for the most part in poor shape , this is my only complaint! Otherwise the course on the whole , greens, fairways & tees very well kept! Cart girls , bathrooms & beer hut available with food on course. The restaurant at the clubhouse has excellent food & variety! All this makes a round here very enjoyable.
Thanks for the great review! We can''t wait to see you and your friends back out on the course soon!
