Royal Woodbine Golf Club

Nice course, staff seems to need charm lessons, specially some stocky dude with arms tattoos I guess hes too cool for us middle age pot belly people. I love this course ,happened to hit the ball decent that day, I guess that helps to enjoy the round better even with rain, greens are fast which I love cause I always seem to have problems with speed. By the way tons of big foxes or small cayotes?

This is an average course. It actually has some interesting holes and water comes into play a lot.

Located right near the airport you get some really close flyby's overhead which is either very cool or very annoying depending on your affinity for planes.

Good for casual golf but if you're a serious golfer I would pay another $20 and go somewhere else of higher calibre.

Great day for golf ... we were informed that it was cart path only today. I was taken back and asked why .. " because of all the rain yesterday" hmmm if royal woodbine can't handle a day of rain off and on ?
I figured they knew best ... the course was fine and didn't warrant cart path only !
Use at least 90 degrees rule ... I found it difficult to get good yardages also noticed marshals up the wazzooo.
4some in front of us we're walking around like chickens with no heads.
Poor decision by administration .. 90 degree would have sufficed, course was fine.

Course layout is great and greens are in great shape. Good challenge to see where your game is really at...must be accurate...Cons: poor staff friendliness, the smell of chemical from paint plant next door (1 hole) is a bit of a turn off...
Enjoyable overall...

It was raining when we reached there but decided to play hoping the weather get batter. We were told the rain check policy is depending on the amount paid; if we stop before 5th hole then the amount paid will be adjusted against another 18 hole as a credit but not an 18 hole round. If it is after the 5th hole and before 9th hole then half of the amount paid will be adjusted as a credit towards the green fee in future.

This course design is in such a way that you will come back to the club house only at the 18th. Means you will have many hungry golfers looking for some food from the cart. The cart passed us two time and in both occasions it had only drinks ; no food. When asked why they are not carrying any food ; the reply was they ran out but there is more at the club house !!

What was once a truly nice golf course has just become a typical public course. Course was in decent shape. greens were nice to putt on. Customer service really is nowhere to be found. Price was okay, but i probably would not come back. So many better facilities around. Need to do the little things better.
Sand is bunkers needs to be topped up. to practice facilities to be found.

Weather held off perfectly. The course was in great condition, but a little dusty down the fairways and roughs.
The biggest turnoff was the finish 18th hole. Beautiful off the tee, nice two fairway shot, but the 18th green was a Landmine of goose droppings!!!
Very upsetting to finish like that.
I'm sure the staff will say, "oh well, what can you do"!!
Got to do something about that for a $100 round of golf, come on guys!!

All and all, enjoyed a nice day with family.

Thoroughly enjoyed our round at Royal Woodbine. Staff was very friendly and the course was in great shape. Location was a bonus as it's right in the city by the airport - saving everyone a drive out into the burbs and beyond.

Rough way too rough. Dangerous...lots of sharp plants even alongside the pathways from the tees
Needs to be cut way down...does not come into play...no need for the rough height

this is not a course for novice golfers but very challenging for good golfers too

Everything was great except the heat and the staff accusing us of hitting golf balls into the parking lot on the last hole... Really left a sour taste in our mouths... Probably won't go back which is a pity. :(

Course in good shape. Challenging which slowed the pace of play in front of us.

Cart service good (except being overcharged).

All in all a bargain.

Course was in good conditions greens were very nice. Pace of play was slow and we had to wait on almost every hole. The condition of some of the bunkers was less than acceptable but I did notice that they were adding sand to several. The biggest issue with this course is the noise from the aircraft. I do not find it an issue but if you are bothered by noise this is not the course for you.

Arrived at the course and was advised all golfers teeing off at 7:45 (Shotgun) - so much for warm-up/practice time.

I suggest that the Marshall pay close attention to the players in front of two-some's in particular. My partner and I were two players while in front of us we had a four-some. Mind you no issues if the four-some would have been quicker but to finish an 18 hole course in 5 hours 15 minutes is a bit extreme. These players in front of us were taking 3 additional shots each as we were on the previous hole they were always technically 2 strokes ahead of us if they played the 1st shot. So when we arrived on the tee box they were into there 3rd shot. If they were controlled to play ONE shot they would have been on the greens instead of the tee box as we pulled in, allowing us to keep the game moving faster. Hence the Marshalls should have seen this delay play time if they were timing the players in general.

Very close to Toronto's pearson airport which is why I went there while I was waiting to fly out the next day.

Greens were decently fast with lots of undulations. Lots of unrepaired ball marks though. Tee boxes were a bit torn up and not completely flat in areas. Fairways were good.

Challenging course however. Tree lined and interesting layout for its location. I enjoyed it regardless of the mentioned cosmetic issues.

Royal Woodbine is a shorter course that requires course management off the tee and the use of the entire bag. Well placed tee shots on several holes will result in excellent birdie opportunities. Poor placed shots can easily result in bogeys. Longer par 3's make up for some of the shorter par 4's. Numerous and well placed tee blocks made the course not only enjoyable for me but also for my wife. Course conditions were excellent including quick and true greens. The only real drawback to the course is its location: directly over the flight route for Pearson Airport and surrounded by noisy industrial businesses. The course generally costs around $75 on Golf Now which is a bit expensive given its surroundings and other comparable courses within driving distance, but we played for $60 which made it a good deal and an enjoyable venue change. If you are looking for a good test of your overall game this course is one to consider.

I don't know why I keep giving this course chances. They put people out way too often so that every time I play here it turns into a 6 hour round. The course is also in awful condition as a result of that - greens just pock marked with unrepaired ball marks.

Also, despite the fact that I was out there for 6 hours in 30 degree heat, there was no beverage cart until the 14th hole (4 hours in) and the half way house was closed.
