Northern Dunes Golf Club
About
Northern Dunes Golf Club is a 18-hole championship course that tumbles across the gently rolling landscape of Bruce Peninsula. The front nine lays across natural sand dunes and while the back nine's landscape required a bit more work, it manages to seamlessly blend with the surroundings. Steve Young, the course architect, incorporated the classic elements of a traditional Scottish links layout but he also wanted the course to have a thoroughly modern feel. The result is a challenging design featuring large greens and over 50 bunkers filled with natural sand strategically placed throughout. The prevailing northwest winds provide another tricky element. Northern Dunes G.C. is ideally situated less than 10 miles from Lake Huron and Sauble Beach and is accessible from all directions.

Tee boxes
Tee boxes are in poor condition. Some greens area bit rough. The sand in the bunkers is great to play out of.
Championship layout
I have played here many times. You wont find a better value for a challenging golf course in the area. The course was in good shape, not crowded and very fun to play.
Good Value
It's a nice track excepting the 17th. But that is part of the deal. Good conditions, a great staff, good food and an array of beers.
Update from '22
Greens are really nice this year. Tee decks however are another story. They need a deck repair program and move the blocks accordingly. Looks like the bunkers are getting regular work so overall a nice public course.
Pace of play is a problem
The course is nice, and challenging enough and the staff is great. Pace of play is not enforced. There have been several times that the course does not have enough carts for patrons- this is likely due to pace of play problems. It was exceptionally slow today. People are there to party hanging out on the fairways rather than moving the game along. If there are learners, that’s great; however, Someone needs to remind patrons to pick up after +3 on a hole, and keep up to the group in front. Set some clocks out every 4 or 6 holes that show a lag to reflect your expected tee off time. For example, set a clock on a board for the expected pace with a note “if this clock is later than your tee off time you’re playing too slow!” I’ve been hit into nearly every round. I’m not a slow player. People get impatient and it can be dangerous.
