Bellmere Winds Golf Club
About
Situated in the center of Kawarthas on the northern shore of Rice Lake, Bellmere Winds Golf Club offers scenic views of the water from every hole. This 18-hole golf course features plenty of elevation changes and a few doglegs added in for more challenges. The topography causes a few uneven lies, it also makes the golf course very difficult to walk, and there are also natural ditches around the narrow fairways that can be treacherous to any errant shots. All of the par 3s have a pond and there are strategically placed sand bunkers throughout. Bellmere Winds Golf Club is conveniently located only 25 minutes from Peterborough.

scenic challenge
long scenic course well maintained with some challenging greens. Now, all they need is a better clubhouse.
Beautiful fall vistas
We loved this course as the greens and fairways were immaculate and the views of Rice Lake and the fall colours were incredible. Unfortunately for me it's a 75 min drive so I won't get out there too often. My only criticism was that the back 9 played much easier than the front which I loved!
amazing views
great golf course with some very challenging holes. Enjoyed it very much but the best feature is looking out on Rice Lake from almost every hole. Very picturesque.
A million dollar view
Bellemere is one of the most picturesque public courses around. The views of Rice Lake are stunning. I only get of play here 1 or 2 times a year and each time I have noticed improvements.
Mixed Review
I call it a mixed review for several reasons:
1) The front and back nines are almost from two different planets...the front is up on the ridge, very undulating, very challenging with strong holes throughout. The back nine starts out with one of the prettiest golf vistas you will ever see, teeing off from the top of the ridge overlooking Rice Lake, to the flatlands below. Hole 11 is a very good par 3, but after that the course becomes somewhat flat (till the 18th back up the hill), and devoid of any "off-the-tee" challenge. The inner back nine holes are in desperate need of some fairway bunkering to define the shot off the tee. Having said that though, the shots into and around the large undulating greens are still very difficult.
2) The greens were in very rough shape, having just been aerated (probably a week to 10 days before). This is unfortunately a necessary evil, and can be forgiven. I will look forward to better greens on another trip. Fairways and tees were not bad, but I personally prefer a "tighter" cut.
3) There is no clubhouse to speak of, nor a pro-shop. All facilities are combined in a trailer serving basic foods and beverages...but that's OK as we're not there for the food.
4) Staff were very friendly as as accommodating as they could be...full points.
