The Rock Golf Club

About
Located in Minett along the shores of Lake Rosseau, The Rock is a target-style course designed by Nick Faldo. The golf course is laid out over a scenic terrain of rolling hills, granite rock outcroppings, and hardwood trees. Faldo incorporated narrow, tree-lined fairways and sloping greens into the design to create a formidable test for players of all skill levels. At 6,545 yards from the back tees, it may not be particularly long but it is a demanding golf course that requires precision off the tees as well as greenside. The par-4 13th is a particularly challenging hole that requires a long tee shot that has to be played to the right to compensate for the severely sloping fairway that leans to the left and the uphill green is to the right past a large granite formation.

beautiful Muskoka layout
This is not a course for beginners or those that can't hit it straight. Very tight and a few strangely designed holes, this is target golf for the most part.
You need to pay attention to the tees you play. Don't look at the yardage, look at the slope and pay attention to the recommendation on the score card. This has to be the hardest 6100 yards (white tees) in Ontario.
The rock golf
Always enjoy playing this course but I was most impressed with golf now and how fast and easy it was to book.
Course in pristine condition; challenging; picturesque
First time experience for 3 out of 4 players
Would most definitely play again in the near future.
Challenging greens narrow fairways
Excellent condition; rocks on the periphery add an unique touch
Fairways - amazing condition ; a tribute to the course maintenance team
Sand bunkers beautiful white sand (remember we are in Muskoka not Bermuda)
Fantastic overall venue and experience
Outstanding experience at The Rock
There were few people playing - no-one in front, no-one behind.
Course condition was spectacular - beautiful greens - true, quick, receptive to long shots.
Scenery is magnificent, fall colours will be spectacular in 2 weeks.
All holes are distinctive and memorable.
Difficult course but fair.
Keeping the ball in play off the tees is critical.
Tough, bring lots of old balls!
Very challenging, lots of blind tee shots, narrow fairways, rocks and other obstacles to bounce off. Between two of us, we lost 13 balls. But very scenic and interesting layout - no boring holes. I'll continue playing it once a year for fun, but wouldn't want to play there regularly.
Not your typical resort course
A very good, but difficult course. I would rate it 4.5 out of 5. Really too tough for anyone over a 20 handicap and thus not a typical resort course. A fair amount of elevation change and some holes with a long walk between the green and the next tee make this a course where you really need to ride. Before this year a cart was included with the green fee, but this year it is $20 per person extra so be aware of this when you book on Golf Now.
excellent course and views
The course is in wonderful conditions and the views are breathtaking. The rocks add to the golf experience
Outstanding course
Fabulous course, awesome shape, beautiful proshop attendant, sunshiney day, all in all outstanding
Rock
Tough course for a weekend hacker. One looses a lot of balls :-(
Course in great shape, esp the greens.
Staff not friendly or enthusiastic as many other courses. They need to use please and thank you's.
spectacular course
I am a bogey golfer and found the course very challenging. Every hole was different and scenic. I lost several golf balls in the water and fescue. It was well worth the money paid and I would love to try it again. If you get a chance you should play.
Unique Expereince
Course beauty is worth the play alone, every hole is different and challenging, nothing easy here. Greens are a little slow but I understand why, this course would be next to impossible for the average player if the greens were fast. Hard to compare this course to any other, fun to play.
pretty views epic Muskoka golf course
Fairways are tight. Greens are small. Tee it forward. Don't be fooled by the yardage or the rating.
A Course of many features
The Rock is a beautiful course with some challenging par 5's that force you to lay up. As it was a beautiful and hot Saturday afternoon the round lasted 5 hours with every tee time of the day being full.....nothing to really complain about that though, being out there sure beats a lot of other things you have to do for 5 hours or more.
Anyone who is looking to challenge their game or just get out see an amazing course lay out and awesome views should give the Rock a try!
The Rock will knock you out
The Rock was one of my first Muskoka golf experiences during a tour of courses in 2012. I'd never seen so much rock or such rugged wilderness. Every fairway felt tighter than Scrooge McDuck's purse strings. It was quite intimidating and yet it was mostly enjoyable. Obviously, it has been softened over the years, and probably needs to be a bit more. The more you play, the more you'll probably enjoy it. Once you learn the spots to avoid, lost balls will become less of a problem.
Fantastic
Fantastic challenge you will use all your clubs in your bag
The course is challenging but enjoyable
I would play it again golf now was a grate help and makes the game more affordable
The Rock is a great course
Exceptionally friendly staff and a fantastic, very challenging course. After Labour Day traffic on the course drops significantly so the time to play drops quite a bit. Definitely recommend this course.
Great course. Tight. Gotta be straight -- especially off the tee.
Beautiful course, great scenery. Course was in very good shape except the greens were a little sandy and slower than I'd anticipated. Course management is key. Straight beats long on this course. Played the golds (second longest). Would recommend greens (third longest) for golfers who regularly shoot in the 90s.
Let people know top dressing is being done
Fantastic layout by Sir Nick. The use of the abundance of natural rock made some holes very interesting. We played off the Gold markers and this offered some challenges, especially the par 3's.
What a pity that the entire course was being aerated. Will have to go back earlier next year. A definite must play again.
I love this place.
One of my favourites. Only problem is that I can't get here enough!
