Henry Homberg Municipal Golf Course
About
The Homberg is old-school golf at its finest. This course dates back to the 1930s and is named after the longtime Beaumont Municipal caddie who eventually became the head pro. Built by the Corps of Engineers, it has been Beaumont's most popular golf institution over the decades.
The design features two totally different nines. The front is more open than the shorter, skinnier back, and boasts two notable par 4s. No. 4 plays into the wind at 445 yards, while No. 9 is known for its tight driving lane into a dogleg-right fairway.
Getting there : From I-10 east, take the Walden Rd. exit and go south. At the stoplight, Walden turns into Tyrrell Rd. and the course is on the left side.

Do better Beaumont
I played a round yesterday at the Beaumont public course, trying to shake the rust off and get back into golf.
Last time I played Beaumont was 12/28/2021, and sadly… it’s still looking rough. It’s basically a glorified cow pasture at this point. The greens weren’t awful, but everything else? Yikes. The golf carts looked like they’d been through a rodeo, major seat rips and all. I half expected duct tape to be holding the wheels on.
Slow play and tee box need to be cut
I’ve played this course several times over the last few years and it hasn’t gotten any better. You have groups of 5 going out and they stack the tee time close together so that you are waiting 10 minutes just to take one shot. The grass on the tee boxes is so long that if you don’t have an extra long tee you’re probably not going to hit a good shot . The course is fun to play but but the pace of play is so slow it makes it difficult to enjoy. The guy doing the carts was nice and very friendly. Probably won’t play again for a while and hope it gets better the next time.
Hacking dog 3
Just after the storm grass over grown fairway and ruff.. hard to find your balls..
Nice for the price
Best course to me around the area. Course is well taken care from tee box to greens. Just wished they had a cart person cause even though the water coolers they have be cold water I still have a want for other things like snacks, but I guess I can just load up before my round and at the turn. Staff is always friendly. There are other courses in the area but this my first choice.
Nice
The course and the greens are good, no CEL signal so GPS doesn’t work very well and course is not updated in the golf apps
Course is in great shape but pace of play has been 15-20 min per hole every time I go even during the week other than that it’s great
Course was in good shape
Course was in pretty good condition despite area being in a drought, staff was very friendly and helpful
The Course
The course was okay for the price. The greens were slow and needed some work. It’s a good course to get some practice if you don’t want to hit range balls and I would play it again…
Good day in the heat
Very hot day. Course in fair condition due to the freeze last winter. Greens are returning to their previous glory.
Ok
Course is ok for the money spent. Greens are not in great shape. Fairways do have some grass on it. The patches of dirt on the greens make it hard to make basic putts though. Course has potential if someone invested some time.
