Henry Homberg Municipal Golf Course
       About
The Homberg is old-school golf at its finest. This course dates back to the 1930s and is named after the longtime Beaumont Municipal caddie who eventually became the head pro. Built by the Corps of Engineers, it has been Beaumont's most popular golf institution over the decades.
The design features two totally different nines. The front is more open than the shorter, skinnier back, and boasts two notable par 4s. No. 4 plays into the wind at 445 yards, while No. 9 is known for its tight driving lane into a dogleg-right fairway.
Getting there : From I-10 east, take the Walden Rd. exit and go south. At the stoplight, Walden turns into Tyrrell Rd. and the course is on the left side.

Hogs messed this place up
Hogs have been getting worse at this coarse every time I come. The ground is tore up on the front nine, the back nine not so bad. They haven't made it on the greens yet I guess they have too much chemical on it. If they could get the hog problem taking care of this would be a nice coarse.
Great new clubhouse
A lot of the courses that that except Golf Now tee times complain about not getting any money out of the deal for me using Golf Now.Just saying.
A muny course
To be fair to the course, there had been a lot of rain recently and they weren't able to cut the grass properly. You could lose your ball in the fairways. It was cut in some places and not others and that could be side-by-side. Did make for a long day on the links looking for your ball even when you hit it down the middle. The greens were in good shape and had been cut. The layout was decent, not a lot you can do when the ground is so flat. Did have some water. The best hole I thought was #17 a par 3. You had to carry a pond, a tough hole, but pretty with the waterlilies. Didn't pay a lot and got what was expected. Can't be disappointed. Was worth playing at least once. Great course to walk when it's not so hot.
fast greens
course is in decent shape
Course conditions
In my opinion this facility is pretty consistent in course maintenance, especially this time around. The greens were in great shape, the playing pace was fast, and the staff was friendly as always. If you ask me, it is a great time to play this course!
Nice Sunday experience
Enjoyed a great afternoon of golf. Course fairways were in good shape and greens were acceptable. Pace of play was extremely slow for the back nine even with marshal on course.
Henry homberg
Not a bad course. Wide open and playable. It's not a pristine course but I always enjoy playing there. Good place for inexperienced golfers.
the course layout was average
The course was damaged by wild boars, and it's going to take time to heal. The maintenance of the course needed some attention, you couldn't tell the difference between fairway and rough
Gettting better...
The course has made real efforts to improve the greens. During summer play they are fast. Sometime course does not move holes for a few days? Don't understand that one. Fairways are rough lots of bare spots and overgrown in other spots. Lot's of walkers so get ready for a slow pace during weekends.
Good course
First time I have played the course course was well maintained with Marshall out there the whole time
One of the better public courses in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area
For the money, there is no better course to play than Henry Homberg. I live closer to other courses, and I will make the drive here to play. Conditions are rough in the summer heat of southeast Texas no matter where you play, but the staff at Homberg keeps the course presentable and playable no matter what.
Fun course to play
Had a very enjoyable round of golf and the staff was extremely friendly
Course was wet
Pot holes full of water in the fairways on almost all of the holes. Mud everywhere and seemed to be made up of sewage.

Have played this course for over 20 years. It has seen some improvement but overall it's not a great course. The tee boxes are terrible, should just put rubber matts down if they are not going to move them around and or refill the divots. They are also tilted/slanted so just getting set up is a struggle. The fairways are really bumpy and hitting it doesn't mean you have a good lie. The bunkers are a joke. The greens are average at best. They always put the flags on the worst slop so making putts is well all luck most days. Did I mention how slow the pace of play is.... If you go at the right time and by the grace of god the course has been maintenanced then you'll have a nice time, otherwise go to Bayou Din.
