Beechwood Golf & Social House
About
Beechwood Golf & Social House sprawls across gently rolling hills dotted with natural water features and trees, providing a terrain that is ideal for golf. The championship layout features fast, undulating greens and carefully contoured fairways. Ponds come into play throughout along with meandering creeks and streams. There are also a few strategically placed bunkers in play. Beechwood Golf & Social House's finishing hole is notable for both the scenery and challenges it offers. To begin the hole you need a precise drive between out-of-bounds on the left and a creek to the right that cuts into a landing area, and then you must make a skillful second shot to a triple-tiered green that slopes towards the creek's edge.

One of the worst tracks I've ever played
Horrendous track. Course is in deplorable condition. There are literally spots of cement-like dirt on the fairway. The staff are very nice, but this course is not worth your time. Spend your money elsewhere.
Unfortunate conditions
The summer was definitely hard on this course. The greens were in good shape but the fairways and some tee boxes were in bad shape. Got minor discount from booking on Golf Now but approximate cost of $50 dollars with cart and online booking fee was too high for conditions of course. Though I appreciate the course needs to make money to operate they must be honest about the conditions. What was a further disappointment was stopping for lunch which was just basic sandwiches ( at least but some more effort into thinks you can control- hot summers are tough on courses but better lunch selection isn't hard to manage). Overall not the experience we were looking for, especially for a long weekend and making the drive in from Toronto. We played at this course as friends live in the area but unless conditions improve might not be back.
worth the money
There are much better courses around but, the value for the price is great.
fairways
a lot of burned fairways some greens( very hot and humid) should not be watered midday as we golfed watering should be done am and pm but still a nice course
Great course
Everything was great for our game and the greens were very good and challenging
challenging course
Course was in good shape
The greens were cut down and fast
Pin placements were tough
"it's blowing over..."
Beechwood is terrific value for the golf dollar. Have been playing this course for years. It's a wonderful "out there" experience. Unfortunately we got the front 9 in basically unscathed by weather and then these were the common in jest phrases uttered by the group: "it's blowing over" - "yup just passing through" - "look see there's a break in the sky" - on the 17th hole a Marshall came over on a cart just to check in on our health and status. Everyone had left the course and club house facilities and we apparently were the only ones keeping the last club house soldier standing. He accepted our commitment with a smile and a shaking head...
Needs some TLC
The course was dry, dry, dry. Needs water and generally needs some TLC.
Sand bunkers are not sand.
I did like that the yardage was properly marked.
It was very windy on Monday so made for a tricky round. But 2 of us in a cart went around in 3.5 hrs.
Food is limited to only hot dogs on a Monday.
But I did notice that they will send you out with beer in a ice filled cooler.
We paid only $34 tax included, and that is about all the course is worth in its current condition.
this course is fun for guys who can't play as much as they would like.
The course itself is in good shape and well taken care of. It is mostly wide open, but there are a few holes that can pose a problem if the ball is not well placed. There are some water hazards that can also pose a problem.
All in all, a fun course to walk and play.
Challenging but user friendly course
Par 3's are a bit difficult. The course has lots of variety which I like. The water hazards create the challenge to this course, as you have to choose your clubs, not according to distance to hole but what you are capable of hitting that would get you over the water.
Solid golf course
Beechwood is a solid golf course with 4 sets of tees to challenge anyone from a low hdcp to a beginner. The holes with water provide the opportunity to lay up for the average golfer, but can seduce the longer hitter into a risk/reward situation. Ball placement of the tee is very important on the tree lined holes.
Greens were in good shape for normal spring golfing conditions in the Niagara Region. They are are the smaller side which make accuracy most important.
Our foursome enjoyed the cool windy day and plan to return to Beechwood in the future.
this course is a challenge for any golfer
course was in great shape considering the time of year
Conditions
Greens were aerated that morning and we could not play the back 9....no one told us this until we we got there and paid....
Older course with some fun holes
Not a bad track for being a 55 year old course. Obviously there are some
Rough spots on the course but overall a decent track. Play from the silver or gold tees for a real challenge. The white tees are pretty short. Have fun
Beechwood
Fairways were nicely trimmed greens were dry and fast.but springtime so can't blame the staff
Be Sharp
Classic treeline layout combined with small/medium greens, positional fairways and hidden hazards will contest your resolve.
The greens were impressive and rolled true considering fall golf.
Overall, this is a course that requires accuracy, precision perhaps a little luck as well on approach shots onto small raised, medium/fast paced greens.
Factoring the tree trouble percentages, it's not a surprise to have 3-6 strokes swings to your rounds.
If you do play the back tees, the trees are not trimmed which is unfair for a person who likes to work the ball right to left as you have to thread it thru a 3 foot window, ie, 11th, 14th hole.
Pin Placement
The course was in excellent shape. The pin placements where in some very crazy spots but we managed.
Beechwood
There was a patch of two foot tall grass just of the edge of the 10th fairway that you can't see from the tee box. I don't remember it being there before. It took me several holes to recoup my composure after losing my ball there.
Beechwood sept 9.2014
The course was in fairly good condition. Greens were a little rough due to aerating. Overall very worth the green fee. It's a fun course to play.
course is good the staff not so good
everytime I play this course there is always a problem. They book too many golfers per hour. The average is every 8 minutes, however this doesn't work for this course. Slow play , 5 plus hour rounds are the norm because time slots are not managed properly, We were a twosome and tried to make the turn after nine, there was a foursome just getting to the green on 10 , a two foursomes and a twosomes waiting to tie off
This course is not managed properly , won't be back.
I would suggest you educate yourself before speaking on irrigation techniques in regards to turf management. As much as watering is usually done during the night, under certain circumstances, additional watering may need to be completed during the day. The irrigation system could have malfunctioned overnight, a repair within the system may have prevented them from running those certain areas. Who knows, by the sounds of it however if there were burnt areas on the course, that shows they were in need of water. While every golf course superintendent tries to minimize the disruption to play, if the turf needed the water, it very well wouldn't have made it through the day without damaging more turf. I am a golf course superintendent at a competing course and I really suggest that you educate yourself prior to criticizing their methods. All superintendents are trying to give you the golfer the best possible playing conditions.
