Otter Creek Golf Club
About
Otter Creek Golf Club is situated in the idyllic farm community of Otterville, Ontario, which is only a 30-minute drive from Woodstock. The rural landscape was formerly farm and tobacco fields, lending a unique, rustic character to the golf course. The layout sprawls across 300 acres, winding through the scenic, wooded valleys of Otter, Cedar, and Spittler Creeks. Dick Kirkpatrick, one of Canada's top golf course architects, designed Otter Creek Golf Club. Kirkpatrick designed the course with players of all skill levels in mind, incorporating minimal forced carries and six sets of tees to make it more accessible for those who are new to the game

great day
awesome course. would have been a perfect rating other than the bunkers were unplayable.
Otter Creek
This course has a very good course design and layout and was in good condition. Generous landing areas off the tee and challenging approach to green shots - except the bunkers had not been maintained this year at all based on their appearance. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent customer service.
Would have been helpful if the course signage gave directions to next tees, or a course map was on the scorecard / provided to public players unfamiliar with the course. We had difficulty finding the 1st tee, and another group were lost on the back nine looking for the 16th tee.
Otter creek
Bunkers need lots of help. A little more signage would be nice as well.
Everything Was Good Except
Naturalizing the greenside bunkers makes no sense. Waste bunkers are generally firm which lowers their need to be groomed. But the greenside bunkers at Otter have tons of sand still and require a proper bunker shot. Unfortunately they cannot be raked properly due to the growth in them so it makes no sense at all.
About those bunkers
As noted by others we were prepared and can only add no one is overstating the issue. Essentially you need to play the bunkers as lateral hazards. Its a shame because the course layout is both interesting and challenging making great use of the significant topography available. Playing for the first time local knowledge would have been helpful on countless shots. Unfortunately pace was close to 4:45 so there was plenty of time to think about it and not in a good way. If pace had been better despite the bunkers I would have given it an additional star on the overall rating.
The course could be a professional venue, with a lot of work, greens where great, the fairways full of divots, the entire facility requires extensive manicuring even though it is supposed to be natural areas. The course is very challenging but not suitable for walkers or high handicappers like myself . If you have difficulty hitting fairways, you will need plenty of balls, they told us they have a bunker remediation project starting soon and it needs it badly!
A Bit Down from Before
Always a preferred course, but the conditioning, which was good, was not as good as in the past. The bunkers look like they've not been cared for for years, with tall weeds all over. It's a mighty shame, because other than the above, this would definitely be a 5-star course and a must-play.
Pretty good but..
The course layout is good with many elevation changes. The tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition. However the bunkers should basically be marked as GIR as they have given up on maintaining them at all, they are just left to whatever mother nature will allow to grow in them.
Hidden Gem!
Challenging course!
Great layout!
Traps are in disrepair but they are fixing them this year!
Better than most
Never played here before this year. Fairways are short grass and soft landings. So are the greens. Will play here again.
Disappointed in the Course
I have played this course since it opened. I think this is the worst shape I have seen it in. They have made a decision to let all the traps go...no maintenance so they are all unplayable. Greens were terrible. Dry, spotty, no consistency and not very true. All in all was not happy with the shape of the course and won't be coming back any time soon.
10/10
Course in amazing shape great fairways huge greens and challenging holes - but 5 tee blocks so you can play what suits your game. Staff very friendly and welcoming, beautiful facilities will be back again my new favorite course
