Otter Creek Golf Club
About
Otter Creek Golf Club is situated in the idyllic farm community of Otterville, Ontario, which is only a 30-minute drive from Woodstock. The rural landscape was formerly farm and tobacco fields, lending a unique, rustic character to the golf course. The layout sprawls across 300 acres, winding through the scenic, wooded valleys of Otter, Cedar, and Spittler Creeks. Dick Kirkpatrick, one of Canada's top golf course architects, designed Otter Creek Golf Club. Kirkpatrick designed the course with players of all skill levels in mind, incorporating minimal forced carries and six sets of tees to make it more accessible for those who are new to the game

There should be 1/2 stars...4 1/2
The course was in really good shape. The deal was great too and the marshal maintained pace of play. We played through a couple of groups which is hard to do because a lot of marshals don't do their job. The course is challenging from any set of tees but fair. I hope to play it again soon.
Great length and challenge
Was an excellent course with good length, great challenge, excellent greens and tough pin placements.
I love this course
My buddies and I have been playing here every week all summer .The course is beautiful and it is our favourite southern Ontario course
Under Rated
Overall an excellent experience with a fantastic variety of holes.
Other reviews have mentioned the blind shots on a number of holes, which is certainly a problem on your first round. The other comment was the lack of beverage carts which we experienced. I recommend you bring your own water as you could play 7/8 holes without seeing anyone.
A bit of a drive but well worth it.
Challenging
Have played this in previous years. Hit the fairway or risk losing your ball. Overshot hole 2 green by 4 feet penalized with a lost ball. Tough. Fescue is tougher than I remember. Love the pro shop, clubhouse, staff. Hate the bunkers.
Definitely worth the drive from Mississauga
Played this course on a Monday & it wasn't very busy. Finished our round in 3 1/2 hours so we decided to play another 18 holes & that took us just under 4 hours.
The course is in great shape. Greens are difficult to hold as they were pretty solid & because most of them are slightly elevated, makes it difficult to run it up. Otter Creek makes you think on every shot. the only easy hole on the course is the par 4 Fourth Hole which measures I believe 299 from the back tees. If you want to birdie one, this would be it. Can't wait to go back
The course was in great shape
Overall the course is great. There are a couple of tee boxes that could be in a bit of a dangerous position if someone comes into a green either a bit hot of slightly off the mark. Small wooden fences places in areas could fix problem
Conditions would have been pristine but all bunkers not the best.
A little slow but great course and facilities were great. Pro shop Ron even helped wife on range without asking him as he was there to do other work. Very friendly!!
Use every club in the bag!
Great accommodating staff from the minute you drive to the bag drop area. The course offers panoramic views and is challenging for all handicap levels. The clubhouse is fantastic with a great outdoor patio viewing the stunning 18th hole.
The only improvement would be to replace the sand in the traps. Let's send a truck to Ohio.
Great course supported by an accommodating friendly staff.
I have played Otter Creek numerous times and the course is always in pristine condition. Each hole offering panoramic views offering challenges to all handicap levels. The clubhouse has a great menu with a fantastic outside patio overlooking the incredible 18th hole.
My only comment for improvement would be the quality of sand in the traps - lets send a truck to Ohio!
The course is very playable, with challenging holes
I looked for a hot deal the day before , a lot of openings, but when i booked it the price did not match what we paid at the course
A bit pricy compared to the surrounding courses ,too long a distance to travel when there s many courses cheaper and better.
Hidden gem...
An hour drive from Kitchener, this course was a true gem for the price. $62.50 after GolfNow fees, per golfer, for a Sunday afternoon tee-off time with power cart was a great deal. The course didn't seem to be packed with fescue when i checked online, but it is! You really have to know your club distances and place your shots to get through the round, with all the hazards to carry, rolling greens, runoff bunkers and fairway bunkers. Spend the $10 on the course book to help you out, as there are a number of blind shots surrounded by hazards.
The 9th hole was one of the tougher ones I've ever played, with a 185yd shot uphill before a gully. The somewhat blind second shot needs to go roughly 180yds to clear the gully, which seems to just pull balls down with the dead air. The final hole of the course is extremely picturesque, with the clubhouse perched on the top of a hill on the left side of the fairway. A well placed drive landing before the creek could allow you to make a run at the green in two, but you don't want to throw away a good round on a long, risky uphill second shot. Will definitely be back to tame this beast.
Challenging experience!
It certainly helps to have played here before in order to direct your shots on certain holes. Requires a good long game for some carries off the tee, so choose your tee according to your realistic handicap and not according to your pride! Beautiful course layout.
Very nice course, well maintained, & excellent greens .Great challenging course, with many elevation changes.
Very nice course , well maintained & excellent greens. Great challenging course for ALL levels of play & handicaps. Very generous for ladies of the advanced tee's...Lady friendly for the wifes that play, Thank you. Fescue was a bit tall, but then you shouldn't be in there !Nice use of naturall the natural land, with many changes in elevation.
Great layout, still reflects a newer course in areas
This spacious site allows for a quiet round of golf on an excellent and challenging layout. Newer, upscale clubhouse very positive. Some work needed in natural areas of course to help speed up play. Highly recommend this challenging layout in this rural setting.
Worth the drive
It's only an hour from Burlington and worth the drive.
I venture at least twice per year to this course and it never dissapoints. Holes number 9 is my nemesis and I don't like it but overall the course is outstanding. I play the blue/white tee combo but always tee it up from the golds on #18. Play the course as it is intended to be played and dont try to get cute or it will eat you up.
Poor layout, ridiculous rough!
I am a 12 handicapper, and our group plays a lot of courses in Southern Ontario and the Naples Florida area using Golfnow.com. We booked this course through them.
I expected a really wonderful experience.
To start we always hit a small bucket of balls. I asked for that and was given a sack with about 10 balls in it. The cart was really noisy and in poor condition.
My main complaint was the lay out. The sight lines from the White tees give you little or no view of the landing areas. I found that on several holes. The first time player has no clue as to where to hit the ball.
The other issue is the rough. They have narrow fairways with a second cut of grass for about 10 feet then 1 foot deep fescue rough. You cannot find, let alone play a ball from this rough. There are probably more lost balls/square foot on this course than any where I have played. I always found, a ball but rarely my own.
To sum it up unless you hit a perfectly straight ball, you will not have a good day here.
I sent a note to the director of operations, and have not received a reply.
Over all a real let down for the average golfer.
This course is very challenging.
This course is very scenic, with undulating fairways.
have to keep ball in play
second hole reminds me of a myrtle beach coarse with the big waste bunker, some long par 4 ,s always have to keep ball in your fairway as the woods and ravines will eat your balls, breaking 100 is almost a reward on this coarse
