It was different then whatI remembered.
Lots of pretty holes but the fairways were rock hard and they just aerated the greens a few days prior so they were pretty much unplayable. We all just said 2 putt greens. Also because of maintenance the course had us teeling off in weird spots changing some of the nicer holes and making them much shorter. It was decent but I remember it being a great course. Back in the day.
Not like it used to be
Our foursome, overall - plays well. Today was the first time for the majority of them so of course you need to get to know the course to play well.
With nobody directly behind us (waiting on the tee etc), the Marshall took it upon himself to tell us we were 15 mins off pace. Well...:so was everyone. Then he proceeded to watch us for a hole - not satisfied that 2 of us birdied and the other 2 par’d - told us again that the rest of the course was backed up.
Wasn’t us I reminded him. In all we got around in 4.29 all in with nobody waiting behind us, Grounds crew all over the place on 4 holes etc. We paid full pop for a course that was in mediocre shape ( sure this summer was hard but every other course I’ve played in the last 2 weeks we’re just fine)
In all - played there several times before, had a great time. This will be the last time I play there. Seems to matter not if there’s nobody behind you, if they feel your not playing fast enough, you’ll hear about it.
Not what I expected on a Thursday while I’m on vacation hosting some friends at a course I told everyone was a hidden gem.
If it wasn’t for the marshalling attitude, would be ok. It’s the first time I’ve ever been told by anyone to speed up and the last time I play Oaks of St George.
Great round!
Great set up, course and greens were in really nice shape. Course requires you to be accurate off the tee but opens up.
Great value!
Always enjoy playing this course, it has a good variety of challenging and scenic holes. Great value for the money.
A little dry
Really great design, but like most courses right now, a little dry. Great value for money.
Nice course but no cart attendant
On a hot day, I would expect a beer cart attendant. We teed off at 11:00 am and no beer available until the 10th hole. They did provide us with a mini cooler and ice, which was great for the back nine.
Course on the dry side...Some Tee blocks completely crunchy , some Greens have disaeased dead blotches
Over booked!
Biggest issue was that between Golf Now, the course’s own bookings and other on line service the course was waaaay over booked. Causing tee times to be 45 minutes late and pace to slow down. The course is pretty but in need of some work. Staff were friendly and apologetic. Other players were courteous and appreciated that were all in this together.
The course is in great condition.
Staff was great, price reasonable, very good pace of play, and a super course layout
Detoriating Course - Uncaring Staff
Played here many times and I can see the decline over the years as GolfNorth does it on the cheap! Carts are beat up and not cleaned, covered in mud and litter. Covid cleaning is substandard, staff social distancing is unapparent and staff being masked indoors is not being followed. Greens were burnt of disease spotted. Lots of water needed. Ponds are full, but course is dry??
Management seems to be hating their jobs and oblivious to customer needs. For the price, there are many better courses in the area. Highly NOT recommended.
Tornado warning stopped us for 10 mins
8 of us had a great time here. Fairways were good,, as were the greens even though the drought has taken a toll on spots here and there. Tough to keep enough water going to keep the courses alive this summer! It's always a challenging round. Playing smart, target golf will help you score well...just banging the ball will land you in trouble! A very nice course!
Nice Track
Always enjoy playing the Oaks. However a little disappointed by the burn marks on the greens.
Saturday 18. 11 am tee time
Fairways are a little bit drier, but the greens are in good condition.
Overall a nice golf course with a few challenging holes.
Pace was a bit slower, 4 h and 45 minutes.
The heat was bearable ,as you got lot of shades and a little breeze.
I will definitely play again.
Water will help
Some spotty greens and the fairways are screaming for water . but you have to realize Golf North does everything on the cheap and has the highest prices . For them it is all about making money
