Course has gone downhill
I was surprised how poor the tees and greens were. This course was famous for super quick greens but they have been let go. Nobody seems to fix their ball marks
Slowest round ever
Unfortunately my group of 4 could not finish our round because the pace was so slow that we did not finish the front 9 until 3 hours after we started. We managed to get through to the 13th and then had to leave due to other commitments that afternoon. As we were leaving we drove past a group that was three groups ahead of us and all 4 players were using the pull carts and walking the course. My question is why would you let a group of four use pull carts and walk the course for a course that charges you for the power cart when you pay. This was obviously the slow down of the entire rotund and everyone that was behind them for that day. Pull carts and walking should not be an option for a course that forces everyone to pay for electric carts.
Nice course
I like this track, they fixed up the green side bunkers and added sand. I found the greens really fast, hit up and roll on, they don’t hold anything. Overall a good challenge.
Cherry Downs
I have golfed this course since the 70’s when Jim Cherry owned it. Course has changed little with some improvements on the greens. I have also golfed it maybe two dozen times since club link become owner. Range use was always free with lots of balls to hit before your round. Having to buy balls I found insulting. Also another major complaint and there is no prejudice here but all east end club link clubs attract a huge Asian golf community and they are the worst for repairing ball marks. Other than that we played with a couple of young mid 20 Asians and they were absolutely wonderful to play with.
Poor placement
Was grouped with 2 players of lesser skill and a large gap in pace of play. Made the round miserable.
Always a nice course, but desperately needs watering
Thé course was very dry (brown patches everywhere) and many of the tee boxes were in tough shape. I was a bit surprised, given past experience. However, it’s still a nice layout and worth a go.
Course in great shape considering no rain in weeks. Greens were in great shape and the T boxes were easy to get your tee into without a hammer . Would definitely play again.
