9 hole Gem
Ahh there is something truly special about this place. When you only have enough time for 9, this is the place to go to. Always in great condition. Staff always friendly. And not badly priced. Some 9 hole courses are pretty Mickey Mouse but Pickering is Tough, especially hole 8! What a par 3. If you haven't played here, you should. Even last summer when everywhere was pretty burnt out, Pickering GC was still in great shape!
definitely need to fix the cart paths, other than that the course is in pretty good shape
Good value
Was very surprised on how challenging this course is. Also how great shape the greens were in. Cart paths not so good...but overall great value for the price.
Very nice and difficult varied 9 hole course at great value
Yes, the amenities surrounding the course are very limited and the club house is in poor condition. However, Pickering is 30mn from the city with light traffic and the grounds are well maintained. At the price paid the value is excellent. Highly recommend for 90mn of golfing escape from the city.
Good for money
Nice golf course but cart path is rough need some repair , close to where I live. Will play again when time permit
having fun
This is the second time playing this course enjoyed playing here both times the course is very well maintained a lot of different styles of holes this is a true gem of a course.
Compact but really good course
We really enjoy playing this course with my wife, it was funny, relaxing and some holes are a bit challenging.
Works 4 Me
I like the wildfe, wild turkeys now, deer in spring. If only somebody were to buy the course, spend some money on the hurtin' cart path and rundown golf carts. We talk about it every lotto max draw! When the jackpot is really huge, we talk about how we like to turn it back into an 18 hole course with better sand for the bunkers, maybe rob a playground. The boys on the farm machinery have a job to do, but should be given more time to do it, hence interferring less with the golfers. I was going to say uncouth, but that may be harsh! We just find it difficult to hit a good shot with machinery idling behind you, close enough to light your smoke for you. My best advice for this course is to take a pain killer before driving their cart path, and smell the contents of the ball washers before you commit. Since I can't afford Deer Creek, this is what I get. A real challenge and no snobs at the right price.
Pickering
Very Hot morning. Course in great shape, greens very good. Will play again for sure.
Bad Proshop Manager
She manages the pro shop is and is always very rude. Looks like she feels robbed by 'Golf Now' guys getting those 'hot deals'. That said, she was an exception....the other folks I have met there seem more customer friendly.
Course is so....so. Okay to play, if nothing else is available in the vicinity.
Hidden Gem
This 9 hole layout, remnants of an 18 hole after the subdivision was built is lovely. way better than you expect. It is really nice 9, great conditions, greens were at a very high quality and difficulty.
Great golf break. Felt like we were in the country
shadow of its past greatness
Played Pickering golf course (Seaton) yesterday and although a few of the holes are still recognizable from the original layout it is a shadow of its former self. What was once a true test of golf over a very interesting and challenging 18 holes has now been relegated to an average 9 hole cottage course. Its poorly maintained and in a state of obvious neglect. Still for 20 bucks I could not complain it was good value. To bad what happened here.
Challenging course
It is a very nice course but challenging for beginners. Be prepared to lose some balls but you won't regret playing it.
Decent Round
Enjoyable round for a thursday afternoon, staff was very friendly. Not far from the city and reasonably priced for the region.
the old Seaton golf club, down sized
Played this course for years when it was an 18 hole course.7 of the original holes still remain.Tough opening hole (old 7th),changed to short dog leg par 5,longish carry over playable valley and fairly tight, tees were in abit of rough shape not a big deal, the greens tho were surprisingly quick and rolled well, not an easy walk very hilly with steep hills on 2 of the 3 par 3s..I wouldnt take a biginner here.i think alot of golfers would enjoy the course being close to the city and with the great deals from golfnow, pace of play was fine ,i was by myself with a couple in front that moved along fine,no one behind me so i was able to practice putting before moving to next tee.
Pickering Golf Course
I have not played here since it was Seaton Golf Course many years ago. Some familiar holes, some very different. Not a bad course, but made better by a very reasonable price for nine holes with a cart.
Where a helmet!!
First off the employee in the pro shop was quite possibly the rudest person I've ever met. Very condisending he glares at you and seems bothered that you even showed up to golf there! Course lay out is terrifying! At almost any point you could be hit by a stray ball from a surrounding hole!! I'll never play this course again and do not recommend it to ANYONE!
Some great old school golf
A quick and quiet course with some nice features including some old school holes with lush tree lined fairways. Off the beaten path now but a great little nine for the cost. And Rollie in the Proshop was very nice.
