About
Black Diamond Golf Club was carefully carved from the foothills and hardwood and pine forests of the Kawartha Oakridge Moraine. The natural landscape, which is covered in fescue, provides many challenges including several elevation changes and water hazards. The layout is unique in that the front nine is more of an open, links style with a double green and numerous pot bunkers, while the back nine has a more traditional North American character. Black Diamond Golf Club's back nine has a few tricky blind shots that present a formidable test for players of all skill levels. The golf course also has rolling fairways lined with trees, carefully sculpted mounding, and 70 strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Golfer Reviews
Frost Delay - No Problem
Staff did a great job reacting to a issue beyond their control. Actively managed pace of play and kept us informed in a manner that didn't interfere with our play. Thought $48 with cart was good value.
Always a good time
An enjoyable place to golf .Enjoyed the reroute mixing up the woodlands with the inland links style holes
With the new orientation of the front and back niines, it is virtually impossible to walk. I preferred the prior orientation as it was like playing two different courses. Additionally, i can't understand why the green on the 12th hole is not yet fixed. It was temporary early in the year and it was still not fixed when I returned in September Otherwise, the course is beautiful and in great shape considering how dry the season was.I am recommending it to my friends, but please help me to save face and get the 12 hole green ready for 2017.
I enjoy playing this course, but I must admit I like the old layout better because it was almost like playing 2 different courses. I enjoyed looking forward to No 11, which was a beautiful hole over the water. Now it's the 5th hole I think. Staff have always been friendly and the course is always in good shape.
Good Value & Challenge
Have played BD since it opened and have enjoyed the majority of rounds played there. It's improved as it has aged and the latest tweak with the new layout has been a positive as well. For me the greens are some of the best around......fast and true. After you've played a few times you'll learn where to place your shot....and where not too. :-). Some great visuals of the surrounding area.
The only areas I could recommend for improvement are:
1. Marshaling on weekends. Because it's particularly busy, this is an area I think needs to be monitored closely so golfers can enjoy a decent pace of play, particularly the golfers that play the game regularly and understand golf etiquette.
2. Sand bunkers. A number of them could use new sand.
A great course but ...
I like everything about the course except for 1 thing, and I believe I'm in the minority on it, I strongly dislike the new routing. I am a fan of the distinct difference between the front & back nines. Now that's gone. Also the green to tee distance has increased in a few places. A few of them significantly. I've played BD 15-20 times starting in year 1. It's always in good shape. The staff is very friendly and helpful(except the times I've had to look for someone to serve me at the snack bar). Ok 1.5 things I dislike. Neither will stop me from playing there.
A much better course since the changes
Since they made the changes to the course regarding switching around the different holes, it has become an excellent golf course, not that it wasn't a really good course previously but now it has become that much better. Best thing they could have done.
This course may be the most unique course in the Region for variety and spectacular views
We have been playing this course for over 15 years and obviously enjoying it - however the new layout of mixing up the holes has created an amazing experience in terms of the combination of links and "mountain" style nines. It is a must play we tell our friends even though a bit off the beaten track.
Great Staff
Great course and new layout is better than original. This is definitely a "hidden" gem. A big thank you to all of the staff for making 2016 a memorable one. Happy holidays to Shawn, Matt, Tom, Dave, Gord, Justin and rest of staff!
Had a great day
I took my sister golfing for her first real golf day. They made it a foursome with 2 gentlemen. We had such a great day. Very challenging course but my sister did well! .
good course, poor proshop staff
hi, course was in good shape, I like the new layout. But outing was ruined by poor pro shop experience. Had the first tee time of the day, when we finished went in for a late breakfast and noticed a sign in the washroom - early bird special, including breakfast $50. When we back to the guy who checked us in and asked why he wouldn't have mentioned the special since it was cheaper then what we paid ($57 plus tax), his response was that I didn't ask for me! I replied "you're kidding" , his response was he could credit back but he was really busy and we'd have to wait ... drove over an hour for this kind of customer service, disappointing
Beautiful scenery. Slow pace
Overbook the tee times so be prepared to play in a foursome. Pace is slow and while there is a starter there appeared to be no marshalls to ensure the pace was even. People spent too much time looking for their balls. The breathtaking scenery and cold but overpriced beer made it an ok experience. Not for the serious golfer on a busy day.
They changed the nines
We enjoyed the way they changed the nines. The golf course was in excellent condition and we would certainly play it again.
Thank you Fred! We're glad you liked the course layout and were able to make it out for a round before the end of the season!
Remembrance Day at Black Diamond
What an awesome day! A tad windy at some points, but overall lots of sunshine and fun.
Thank you for coming out last Friday! We're glad you had a great experience!
Golf in a November Sunny day
It was cold and that was why the pace was excellent. Like the course layout...it is like playing two very different courses in the same round. The front 9 is easier that the back which plays uphill and longer than the yardage suggests. One of the hole was under construction and the hole was at least twice the size of the normal.
We're glad you were able to get in a round before the end of the season! The cold is creeping up on us, but we appreciate you coming out! Thank you for your review samttvan!
Great Improvement
After playing over the course of 12 or so years, Black Diamond has rounded into a great track in the Kawartha Area..Love the restructuring of hole layout this year.Greens have never been better.
Always great value especially if you are lucky enough to snag a Golfnow Hot Deal.
Well recommended.Golfing in November was fortunate, with no compromise on course quality!!
Thank you Paul! We're glad you were able to get a great round in before the end of the season!
Great shape
Great layout, course is in excellent condition. Course Staff very friendly and accommodating. 3rd time playing course and ithe course seemed better each time. Looking forward to next season.
Thank you for coming out this year! We can't wait to see you again next year Butchb13!
Rude staff (Neil)
I've been coming to Black Diamond since this spring. I've usually had great time here because despite the terrible pacing of the course (always backlogged), the staff had made up for it by allowing my husband and i to refresh to hole 1 to not be waiting for the next hole all the time. Unfortunately the good relationship was severed last Saturday when i was mistreated by a staff named Neil.
There were a couple golfers ahead of my husband and i who were goofing around, putting after their hole was already done at every hole. No staff came by and we were extremely frustrated. At the 12th hole we wee finally able to flag down a staff by the name Neil and asked if we could go back to hole 1 instead of waiting as we've always done. He smirked and said yes so we went back and started. 4 holes in, after we've put in the driver shot, he came back saying since we've done the 4 holes so we had to leave. Not only did he rudely interrupt a play (common decorum should dictate he should ask us to leave at the very least after the hole was completed), but he emphasized he wanted to go home so he couldn't let us finish the holes we didn't get to play. It was 4pm.
The previous staff were very kind and made me want to revisit the course. However this situation left a very bad impression, particularly on the staff named Neil. He was extremely rude and arrogant. Not really sure why he's working where he hates it so much. I think the black Diamond will do much better without him or at least properly training him to take his attitude outside the workplace.
Hello,
We're sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience on this particular day. We appreciate your review and feedback, and hope that we can make it up to you on another visit to the course.
Best regards,
Black Diamond Management
