About
Black Diamond Golf Club was carefully carved from the foothills and hardwood and pine forests of the Kawartha Oakridge Moraine. The natural landscape, which is covered in fescue, provides many challenges including several elevation changes and water hazards. The layout is unique in that the front nine is more of an open, links style with a double green and numerous pot bunkers, while the back nine has a more traditional North American character. Black Diamond Golf Club's back nine has a few tricky blind shots that present a formidable test for players of all skill levels. The golf course also has rolling fairways lined with trees, carefully sculpted mounding, and 70 strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Golfer Reviews
Scenic fall golf
It is an interesting course some nice vistas due to the elevation changes . The staff are always laid back and pleasant in my 7-8 times here . Greens a month ago had way too many ballmarks from people not fixing there ballmarks . Hey folks I know you dont hit many greena but fix the divots when you do! Seemed a little better a month later , the greens were punched this time they did as good a job as possible at keeping them somewhat smooth overall I dont play here for the great greens I enjoy this course tee to green especially on the back nine
The course has great features
The course is in very good condition ,very challenging at the back nine holes.I like playing at this course.
Horrible round
Love this course till yesterday. First they didn't have our tee time(two some) from golf now. Then they said there is a tournament that is about to start. So they send us out the back. Fine but there were people coming from the front nine mixing with all other guys just starting from the back. So of course it was going to be slow. After 2 1/2 hours we get to the front and there are still 4 foursomes waiting to go out from the tournament. We decide to do the back nine again. We get stuck between foursomes from the tournament. No Marshall anywhere. Over booking just doesn't work. Please organize your tee times better. Played here many times. Nice course!!
Worth the price if you are in the area
I've been wanting to play the course for a while and glad I did. The course was is great shape and the greens rolled well.
I don't make a big deal that others have about the 9's being so different. It is not a big deal to me.
However the 10th is just a bad hole. I was playing the tips and had the course book and played with others who have played the course before. I took the cart down the hill just to get an idea of where to go and by the time I got back up the hill to hit the tee shot I still had a very hard time picking a line and club.
Don't plan to walk the back 9 unless you bring a Sherpa. During the back 9 I found a lot of the time that you need to drive ahead of your shot to see where you are aiming and what the landing area is like. Know how to play the hills, slopes and bounces. One surely needs to play the back 9 a few times to really get a feel for it.
The greens had some nice slopes and breaks so make sure you take a second and give them a good read.
I will certainly play it again when I am in the area.
One of my favaourite courses
I played here many times and it is one of my favouriate courses. I like the variety that the course offers. Front 9 is mostly wide open and back 9 is mostly in the valley with a lot of elevation changes. In short, every hole is different and you won't feel bored of similar layout and length.
The course is well maintained and staff is very friendly.
fun and different track to play
the front 9 is straight forward as a links style course. However the back 9 is completely different. Talk to someone in the know before hitting from the 10th tee!
The back is a parkland target style course which is fun but would have been better if we had someone who knew it playing with us!
Nice outing but...
To be fair, the day I played saw brief heavy rain 4 hrs prior to play so they may have had issues with normal maintenance and staffing. The greens were not mowed that day, conseqently a bit slow, but most alarmingly they were EXTREMELY scuffed, never seen this much foot dragging on any course! No Marshal on course, so our twosome had to push our way through a slow fivesome(!) and then a beginner, senior, 3 lady, one man, foursome. First 4 holes took more than 90 minutes! No beer cart on this day either.
Had this been my 1st experience at this normally excellent course, my review would be scathing. At the GolfNow special rate, you helped mitigate a potentially frustrating day.
Black Diamond is a diamond in the rough...
This is a great place to play. Too bad its so far from the city. I would play it every week. Its a nice challenge, good length, friendly staff. Need to extend the driving range so that you can hit with the big sticks...but overall, a very good place to play.
First Time at Black Diamond
The other reviews were right - the front and back nines are totally different (Links and Parkland). Wide fairways in the front nine means the fescue really doesn't come into play. But when I found it on the right side of the 9th hole off the tee, it was fairly easy to advance the ball. The real challenge is in the back nine where there are several holes with blind tee shots. I know better now for the next time I tee off on the 10th hole.
There's a driving range on the property but irons only; at least that's what the sign said.
All of the staff were courteous and friendly - all the other players we encountered on the course were too. We played on a Thursday and the pace was very good.
Nice Layout
This course is nicely laid out with great staff but course conditions have been on the decline over the past month. Partially to blame are the golfers who refuse to replace divots and ball marks.
Enjoyable golf course
This course has 2 distinct nines. the front is quite open, the back is heavily treed with lots of elevation changes and great views.
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape (bentgrass). Many interesting holes on the back.
great fun to play. challenging but playable. Go play!!
Very nice front nine!
This golf course has a very nice front nine but much too hilly a back 9 for my tastes. I like to walk, but found the back 9 too tiring with all the ups and downs. The course is well maintained though there were grass clumps on most greens, perhaps because it had just been cut. With winding holes on the back 9 there should be better directions given at each hole. I might play BD again, but only with a cart. Green fees were reasonable.
Unique Course
Love the difference between the front and back nine
Great Course
Second time playing the course first time it rained for all 18-holes, this round weather perfect and we really enjoyed the course.
We played as a twosome therefore pace of play for us was slow however did not interfere with us enjoying the course.
The greens were extremely fast and tough pin placements made for a great test of golf,
The front nine and back nine is like placing two different golf courses, front is more link style where back is carved out of the forest with tight fairways and continual elevation changes.
Only negative was fairway bunkers were not the best, most are filled with small crushed stone however green side bunkers appeared to be in great condition.
The staff is super friendly and food is superb, the Halibut quality is s good as any high end restaurant.
We look forward to playing here again in the future.
Best course in the area
This is one of the best courses in the area. Very well kept with great views .
A challenge for all levels
This course although tucked away in the middle of nowhere is always fun to play with tightly mown greens that are both fast and undulating. There are plenty of elevation changes and the nines are very contrasting and pleasing to the golfer's eye. Great value for the money.
Great deal
Very cheap round though golf now. Awesome deal was amazing course
Good golf
Overall very pleased with golf course, greens a little rough in places, looked like many spike marks.
