Black Diamond Golf Club
About
Black Diamond Golf Club was carefully carved from the foothills and hardwood and pine forests of the Kawartha Oakridge Moraine. The natural landscape, which is covered in fescue, provides many challenges including several elevation changes and water hazards. The layout is unique in that the front nine is more of an open, links style with a double green and numerous pot bunkers, while the back nine has a more traditional North American character. Black Diamond Golf Club's back nine has a few tricky blind shots that present a formidable test for players of all skill levels. The golf course also has rolling fairways lined with trees, carefully sculpted mounding, and 70 strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Black Diamond is a diamond in the rough...
This is a great place to play. Too bad its so far from the city. I would play it every week. Its a nice challenge, good length, friendly staff. Need to extend the driving range so that you can hit with the big sticks...but overall, a very good place to play.
First Time at Black Diamond
The other reviews were right - the front and back nines are totally different (Links and Parkland). Wide fairways in the front nine means the fescue really doesn't come into play. But when I found it on the right side of the 9th hole off the tee, it was fairly easy to advance the ball. The real challenge is in the back nine where there are several holes with blind tee shots. I know better now for the next time I tee off on the 10th hole.
There's a driving range on the property but irons only; at least that's what the sign said.
All of the staff were courteous and friendly - all the other players we encountered on the course were too. We played on a Thursday and the pace was very good.
Nice Layout
This course is nicely laid out with great staff but course conditions have been on the decline over the past month. Partially to blame are the golfers who refuse to replace divots and ball marks.
Enjoyable golf course
This course has 2 distinct nines. the front is quite open, the back is heavily treed with lots of elevation changes and great views.
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape (bentgrass). Many interesting holes on the back.
great fun to play. challenging but playable. Go play!!
Very nice front nine!
This golf course has a very nice front nine but much too hilly a back 9 for my tastes. I like to walk, but found the back 9 too tiring with all the ups and downs. The course is well maintained though there were grass clumps on most greens, perhaps because it had just been cut. With winding holes on the back 9 there should be better directions given at each hole. I might play BD again, but only with a cart. Green fees were reasonable.
Unique Course
Love the difference between the front and back nine
Great Course
Second time playing the course first time it rained for all 18-holes, this round weather perfect and we really enjoyed the course.
We played as a twosome therefore pace of play for us was slow however did not interfere with us enjoying the course.
The greens were extremely fast and tough pin placements made for a great test of golf,
The front nine and back nine is like placing two different golf courses, front is more link style where back is carved out of the forest with tight fairways and continual elevation changes.
Only negative was fairway bunkers were not the best, most are filled with small crushed stone however green side bunkers appeared to be in great condition.
The staff is super friendly and food is superb, the Halibut quality is s good as any high end restaurant.
We look forward to playing here again in the future.
Best course in the area
This is one of the best courses in the area. Very well kept with great views .
A challenge for all levels
This course although tucked away in the middle of nowhere is always fun to play with tightly mown greens that are both fast and undulating. There are plenty of elevation changes and the nines are very contrasting and pleasing to the golfer's eye. Great value for the money.
Great deal
Very cheap round though golf now. Awesome deal was amazing course
Good golf
Overall very pleased with golf course, greens a little rough in places, looked like many spike marks.
Great day, golf not so much
Awesome day, very scenic and lots of sun. I simply put myself in trouble trying to take shortcuts.
Valley coasre
The front nine is in great shape and relatively easy, but the back nine is tough with lots of dog legs and narrow fairways, but in great shape a great round of golf great service as well
Black Diamond
Front nine fairly straight forward. Back nine has some holes with blind shots that you make sense the second time you play them.
Amazing!!!
One of my favourite courses around!!!! Really amazing course, and can't beat the price! Can't wait to get back out there'!!!
good value and challenging
2 inconsiderate couples in front of us with no intentions to let us through created a 3 hour front nine. A bathroom break for the ladies allowed us to zip through and finish the back 9 in 1.45 hours
The greens are fast, the fairways are decent but casual golfers not fixing pitch marks could have left the greens in better shape.
Overall a challenging layout.
Great Track A+++
PGA the conditions. Very fast greens and great layout. Pace of play could be better. But all and all a great course with great staff
Pace of play
Very slow due to lack of good marshalling
Marshal does not take any actions for slow play. Make the round not very enjoyable. Found this the last two rounds here.
1st timer
Front 9 nice and open back 9 tight and difficult. Excellent course with stunning views. Definitely going back again.
